I doubt it has anything to do with work permit expiry date. On a positive note, my ecas was updated with Medical received. I do not know exactly when they updated as I only check on a weekly basis now, but I am sure soon we should all hear something positive.
Hang in there all

May be it could help us - When you did your medicals and when it was uploaded by your doctor?

Are you out of status now?

To answer your question,
based on my last work permit, yes.

But I applied for BOWP 2 weeks ago, so even though I don't have a copy of my BOWP yet,
I confirmed with CIC that I can still continue working because I applied before my permit expired.

Hope it helps!

Actually you are not out of status, you are in implied status.

My first set of medicals I did back in April, then they asked for additional test for my wife, which I did second week of May. Then I got a letter in the mail asking for more test for my wife as she is from Pakistan. That I did last week of July. Not sure when the doctor got the results but she had uploaded everything by July 31st.
My status updated sometime last week, not sure when but I checked on Thursday and it was there.
hope this helps

In my case, we have not received any request from CIC. I found that medical is clear for me and my daughter. There is a note that Review is ongoing for outstanding medical results. We have never received any request for additional test. As per doctor, all tests were clear and there was no issue.

Hi Guys,

My wife and I are still waiting for PPR. We got less than 3 months remaining before open work permits expire and planning to get an extension. I'm on the 12 out of 13 month processing time. What do you think is the best time to re-apply for an open work permit?

Thanks

To be eligible for a bridging open work permit, the applicants must:

Currently be in Canada;
Have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within 4 months;
Have received confirmation from CIC that their permanent resident application is eligible under one of the four Economic Classes (FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP), and;
Have made an application for an open work permit.

Hi letstry21,

I know this steps and applied one before. My question is when is the perfect time to get an extension as current open work permit is valid for less than 3 months. I don't like the feeling of waiting PPR till open work permit expires and lost my status eventually. I just want to be in the safe side and my wife as well.

I firmly believe that things will mobilize in September. In case you will not receive PPR, apply it 2 weeks before the validity ends.

As long you have filed a BOWP - you dont lose status even if your current permit expires
You will be on implied status

As the above post say apply within 2 weeks of WP expiry date online for BOWP. If you are planning to change jobs, it is a good idea not to let your status go in implied status as you can't join another company on that.

Got my spouse GCMS notes today

It states

Medical - Sent (on going review)
Also Due date is set as 04th November

So I guess - CIC selected me to be the lucky person who needs to wait for 13 Months
My AOR was Nov 4th

And just to add-----

I am not surprised at all
On her work permit, they took 9 months because they did not send additional request letter until June 2013 when it was generated on Dec 3rd 2012
Finally they called us and requested to go ahead with additional tests and WP was approved in 1 month after that

Until then every time i asked reply was - Don't have anything pending...We are all set........

I guess that is how it works
