Hi Everyone

I am screwed royally. I asked someone in a different forum thread about NOC codes 2173 and 2174. I had applied PR under CEC against 2173 NOC code. But as per my Work permit it should be 2174 though the roles and responsibilities are same for both the NOC Codes.

2173 - Software Engineer
2174 - Software Developer

Looks like my application might be rejected. Following is the link where someone replied to my query.

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/will-lots-of-people-apply-for-noc2174-just-like-lots-did-for-noc0213-in-2008-t159456.0.html;msg2618249#msg2618249

I had called CIC agent today and explained my situation. She told me to wait until AOR is created, until then nothing can be done is what she is saying. What should I do? Will they create my AOR now and reject the application after 1 year? Or will they return my application? Any suggestions please.

Regards,
Kunisha

As long as your duties match the NOC you applied under, you should be fine. 2173 and 2174 are so close, it shouldn't
really matter.
However, you will have to wait for the AOR. Until then you can't do jack. Wait for AOR, once you get your filenumber,
you can send updated forms to CIC.
Your application won't be send back to you before you get AOR, in case you submitted a complete application package
and signed all the forms.

Hello Kunisha
In addition to what Toby has said, I don't think you did anything wrong. If you go to the FSW link, it is clearly stated there that 2174 has reached its cap and 2173 simply doesn't exist. For CEC applicants, there is no such list of eligible occupations. If you have Canadian experience of at least 12 months full time, you are good to apply. This is what I understand from the immigration canada's website.
So cheer up and hope for the best. This eligible occupations list is only for FSW applicants.

Thanks a lot NAVGUY.

Coming to the IELTS scores for both these NOC codes, these are listed as type A jobs and both of them need 6/6/6/6 IELTS scores. My IELTS score matches with either of the NOC codes.

Like I previously said. You're all good. There's no such thing as a cap or limits to CEC applications. CIC only
set a target, but there could be more or less applications than the target.

Both positions are skill level A, so as long as your duties match the ones mentioned for the NOC you applied under, you'll be fine.

  • More and more August applicants are receiving AORs. Current trend is still 62 days from the day the application reached CIO.

Hello,

I submitted my application on Sept 3. I am planning to get married by April 2014. Assuming i get married on or before April, if i add my spouse after that, by how much time my application would be delayed ?

Can anyone Pls let me know from your own or others exp ?

Hi Anil Kumar

I have seen my friends who are married and staying with their family in Canada, yet applied for PR under CEC as a single applicant. One of my friend has already got his medicals whose application was sent in May, 2013. I heard that the single applicant processing times are much faster compare to family class. I wish I should have applied as a single applicant too.

Anyway in your case, I would suggest you to get your PR first and then go for adding your family unless you have plans to get a working status for your wife sooner. If you add your wife as an applicant at a later point, your application also would be delayed.

Kunishsa

Yah but, if you are married yet you file as single, is n't it mis-representation? If CIC finds out, that may jeapordize the whole PR process.

If you are married, include your spouse in your application. I don't think there is any other option.

It is not mis-representing. We give 100% genuine information but don't add them now as additional applicants for PR. In another words, you mention everything as you do for family class but you don't pay for your family.
