Silly question guys!
I am planning to see my husband in a couple of weeks and I want to take my blender with me. Do you think it'd be a problem? I'd be taking it in my checked luggage of course. Have you ever taken small appliances in your checked luggage? Silly I know ::)

I remember 2 years ago I bought a rice cooker in Japan and brought it to Poland for my friends, there was no problem. :) (not to mention my electric toothbrush a a big hair-dryer I brought to Canada).
I don't see a reason they should mind such a thing.

OMG :'( - I've just checked ecas and in "Sponsorship Application Status" it says "Decision made". When I click it it reads:

"We sent you a letter on October 30, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

And we didn't receive any email, not even AOR.
Plz be honest with me - they would have sent me an email if everything was ok and the app was sent to VO, right???

I need to prepare myself mentally for a bad news in this letter... :'(

I am sure it is fine.....many approvals are mailed....it will be okay......it depends on the agent inputting your file....and many don't get AOR.....start checking the mail!!! :D

I have brought toasters, irons, electric kettles all through checked luggage with no problem....should be fine!!!! :)

Thank you guys! I corrected it to "mixer" hehe. I can't seem to find the motivation to bake on my own anymore and everytime I go see my husband, I want to take some of my kitchen appliances so I can bake and cook for him (and actually use my appliances that are collecting dust in my kitchen!) thank you :-* I have two weeks to pack my goodies wihtout going over the weight limit ::)

We received sponsorship approval via email Nov. 5 then got to check my E-cas few hours later and there was *medical result have been received* :o

They said (some forummates) that if that showed already in your E-cas, your application was already on applicants visa office .. In a matter of few hours my package traveled from Canada to Asia.. Hahaha :P :D ;D

I was under that impression also but was told that now all medicals go to Canada, so it is CIC that puts in medicals received now, not the VO. Also when my hubby went for his medicals, the dr told him that the medical was going to Canada not to his VO.

Did you check your spam folder?

It's the first thing my partner checks after coming back from work every day. ;)

Hey, how were you able to check ecas without receiving an AOR? Did you call CIC to get the file number?

Checking ours using my husband's UCI Number. Ours shows "application received" for a week now, no sponsor approval yet :(

WE GOT STAGE 1 APPROVAL!! Nov. 2nd we got the email (just looked) and a letter was sent that day, per ECAS.

Amazing how quick it was!

Praise God!

As much as I know they have several medicals processing centers in the world. For western hemisphere, it's in Ottawa. For eastern it's in London. I don't know if they have more medical processing centers in the world. In general, it takes up to 3 months to process our medicals and report to VO processing the case health conditions of applicants. VOs or CIC do not deal with medicals.
