Yeah, that's true. If your medical records haven't been updated yet, there's no need to worry. There's a possibility that they will update your medical information and issue the PPR (Passport Request) simultaneously. Additionally, with the recent 20k GIC update, there have been thousands of applications submitted before December 31st. Considering the holiday season with Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year holidays, there might be some backlogs. Let`s stay positive and wait for results.

Process is between 9-12 weeks even for the majority of SDS files. Eligibility has started for you so you may get a response before your friend if your background check doesn’t take long. So will you get it on time - maybe. If you don’t have response by first week of February then defer.
Defer. Very few people have it processed in 20-25 days. Don’t know why IRCC still states this since this hasn’t been in place since before COVID. Now some people get it processed in those timeframes depending on program (Masters/PhD) and citizenship but most people on this forum have been waiting many months.
