SHORT STAY ACCOMMODATION:
For sure you must arrange a 'short-stay' accommodation prior to your landing. The necessity of which cannot be overemphasized more. If you have friends/relatives, they can be approached for the same, if you do not have anyone, the following is recommended:

Toronto:
1) http://www.safehomestay.com/
2) http://www.staystudio6.com/
*Both provide a/port pick-up services. The places are used by many satisfactorily.

Calgary:
Not much such places are available. However, this ad by a service-provider caught my eye...
"Furnished rooms with high speed internet are available for newcomers & immigrants. Close to all aminities. Pick up & drop off services also available. Call Girish # 403-255-8582 [or email: taradale @ live.ca] for more info".

Vancouver:
a) http://www.budgetpathotel.bc.ca/
b) http://www.ywcahotel.com/

Some other important sites on Vancouver are:
1) http://www.welcomebc.ca
2) http://www.rentbc.com

NOTE: Except for ppl with enough $$$ to spend, avoid Hotels & Motels. They are far costlier. Also, if you must take a hotel, avoid the ones close to the A/port -for obvious reasons.

HOUSE RENTAL:
The best way to do house hunting [long-term accom.] is to land at Canada & then start searching. Word of mouth & Bulletin Boards are a great ‘real-time' source. However, we cannot condone the importance of the web. Some of the good sites [there are many] could be:
a) http://www.hometrader.ca (Good site)
b) http://www.capreit.com (Property Management Services)
c) http://www.kjiji.ca/ (Good Classifieds site)
d) http://www.mls.ca (Mother of all)
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t36735.0.html

Can anyone advice, at the time of landing do we really have to take all jewellery or atleast snaps with us in order to get it stamp? otherwise next time we will re-enter into Canada we have to pay tax. Is that true?

I am so thrilled and excited. After almost 2 years of long wait it has happened. I want to thank all the guys and gals in this forum who helped me and I want all of us to keep helping each other.
Keep patient and you will succeed too.

Hi guys!

I joined this forum yesterday but this is my first time to join in this thread. I believe I would be better informed here since most people here are from KSA also. I am currently working here in Jeddah and I submitted my application and all original documents to CE-Riyadh. I am applying for Janitorial Services Supervisor in Alberta. Here are my details:

05 Feb 2013 - Aramex picked up my documents
06 Feb 2013 - CE-Riyadh received my documents
07 Feb 2013 - My documents were returned to me with CE's comment that (1) I need to "barcode" my application form (IMM 1295) for validation
purposes; and (2) they needed an updated "Employment Letter indicating title, salary, leave dates and length of contract"
12 Feb 2013 - Resubmitted my documents to CE-Riyadh
04 Apr 2013 - I sent an email to CE-Riyadh inquiring about the status of my application since I did not receive any AOR from them; and 6 weeks had
passed already
06 Apr 2013 - CE-Riyadh sent me their reply, I quote: ["Dear Applicant, Your application is still under process. Regards, VISA Section"]

Now, my concerns are the following:

1. My LMO will expire on 05 MAY 2013. What will happen?
2. My IQAMA will expire on 08 JUNE 2013. I know I need to renew it, and it is not a problem. However, will the expiration affect the TWP/Visa processing? Will there be a way for CE-Riyadh to find out that I am still legally employed here in Jeddah?
3. I am still confused of how long the processing will take. I have read that it will take 6 weeks here in Riyadh but some says 4-6 months or 8-12 months, etc.

I hope somebody here can help me and enlighten me on these subjects. Thanks a lot!
