Dear Baddar,

Yes this is necessary to take required equivalent funds or more with you at the time of landing. We can have the bank draft in USD dollars since dollar is fixed against the riyal, so we will not affect exchange rates difference other than draft making and cancellation charges which will not cost us more than SAR 100 for this whole transaction.

When you are planning to give landing?

Yes you can make the USD Draft.

but I am researching is that necessary to take the Funds at this stage? What if I only show them Bank Statement of KSA and transfer the funds later on. In this case we have the minimum wastage on exchange rates. I will also let you know if I will get some concrete answer on that.

Good Luck

I am purchasing the CAD now days from Riyadh Bank the current rate up to yesterday for CAD is 3.66 which is the lowest since last 12 months. i hope that it will not go further below.

Plan for landing depends upon passport request and Visa stamp, i send Medical on Feb 12th. My Plan for August 2013 so i will get additional days with Eid holidays.

Regards

We will do the same InshahAllah. during our first visit in Canada we will open the bank account and deposit few hundred dollars, and once back to Saudi and moving permanently than transfer all funds to Canadian Bank account.

There are 4-5 colleagues from my office few of them went for landing they did not make any transfer they only showed their net worth. upon arrival they open account in canada after coming back they make fund transfer in their own account mostly SABB

Few of them make the travelers cheques as well.

I have not purchased Canadian Dollars yet, but I went Baatha with one of our forum member Dr. Atif and purchase @ 3.73 as he is traveling next month.

I would recommend, once you have received your visa than proceed and buy CAD.

By the way any reason you know why CAD dollar is melting? I remember 4 months ago I dispatch my landing fees it was 4.12.

How many days you are planning to stay in Canada? These days PR card deliver in 55 to 59 days

Dear friends,
I want to seek advice from friends who are about to move to Canada from Saudi Arabia. I am also in the process waiting MR and having a good job In Saudi Arabia. I have three school going kids. Would appreciate if you could advise me as to how should I proceed once I get the visa stamped by the grace of Allah SWT. Should I resign and move for goods, should I take three to four months leave and go with my family, make all the necessary docs and come back.
Secondly, which part of Canada is best suited for new immigrants, with low cost of living and having equally good job market. Please suggest. Thanks

Can anyone advice for reasonable and cheap accomodation for short trip.

SHORT STAY ACCOMMODATION:
For sure you must arrange a 'short-stay' accommodation prior to your landing. The necessity of which cannot be overemphasized more. If you have friends/relatives, they can be approached for the same, if you do not have anyone, the following is recommended:

Toronto:
1) http://www.safehomestay.com/
2) http://www.staystudio6.com/
*Both provide a/port pick-up services. The places are used by many satisfactorily.

Calgary:
Not much such places are available. However, this ad by a service-provider caught my eye...
"Furnished rooms with high speed internet are available for newcomers & immigrants. Close to all aminities. Pick up & drop off services also available. Call Girish # 403-255-8582 [or email: taradale @ live.ca] for more info".
Source: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/shared-accomodation-in-calgary-ne-t31430.0.html

Vancouver:
a) http://www.budgetpathotel.bc.ca/
b) http://www.ywcahotel.com/

Some other important sites on Vancouver are:
1) http://www.welcomebc.ca
2) http://www.rentbc.com

NOTE: Except for ppl with enough $$$ to spend, avoid Hotels & Motels. They are far costlier. Also, if you must take a hotel, avoid the ones close to the A/port -for obvious reasons.

HOUSE RENTAL:
The best way to do house hunting [long-term accom.] is to land at Canada & then start searching. Word of mouth & Bulletin Boards are a great ‘real-time' source. However, we cannot condone the importance of the web. Some of the good sites [there are many] could be:
a) http://www.hometrader.ca (Good site)
b) http://www.capreit.com (Property Management Services)
c) http://www.kjiji.ca/ (Good Classifieds site)
d) http://www.mls.ca (Mother of all)

Dear Hasni

It all depends upon your field you are working. I observed that if some one from Finance filed if he have done some specialized finance qualification like CGA which are accepted in Canada than chances to get job are high. Being in Saudi Arabia we are totally out of tax and so many other things.

Same apply for so many fields like insurance / engineering etc etc local identification is really important and above all first break in the market is really competitive after than things can get smooth and market will absorb you quite quickly.

For pplz working in Saudi Arabia and other part of Middle East at high income grades its always tough question after getting visa what to do now ?

All the best please see below QORAX Link hope it will guide you more !
