RQ before test , timeline

Hi Swede,

I have also received "notice to prepare for citizenship exam dated 20 Dec, but I have not recieved any test date yet. When did you recieve your letter for citizenship test?

CIC issued 25,000 of the same generic letter on purpose of communication. So it seems that a large proportion of RQ recipients received this form letter.("coming months" could mean 2 months or 24 months). I suspect that many of us CIT 0521 will remain in limbo for months or years more. Copied from another members post.

I got the very same letter two weeks ago, "prepare for the test and for the hearing before the judge". You are mention CIT 0521? I have order GCMS notes and in my version there is no CIT 0521, I have CIT 1997. Do you know what that mean?

hearing before the judge?? Did you mean just interview with CIC officer?

CIT 0521 is different from CIT 1997. not sure what that is........

I got same letter dated Dec 22. I called cic and they told me that I will get the test date in couple of months. They also mentioned that sometimes they have to put dummy interview date, when in reality there will not be any interview.

layla.bee, I guess you are right, I called CIC today and he told me it shows there is an interview, you might or might not get an interview, as it could be changed !! , what does that mean?, is what is he talking about meeting a judge? or an interview with a cic officer? , they never give you a precise answer.

And can they send me a test letter while my RQ is still being reviewed?

You first interview with the Citizenship Officer on test day. Thereafter CO can refer you for a full hearing/ interview with the CJ.

Last released OB on this indicated a 'hold' was placed on file for those under RQ so that a test was not scheduled pre RQ review. CIC have revised the RQ process but no corresponding OB but my take is that you could be scheduled for the test now despite the RQ still being in process. There are applicants getting a test date soon after receiving CIT0521 and its obvious based on their RQ submission date CIC has not reviewed their RQ. My suspicion is that such applicants are those with background checks that could expire while CIC are reviewing the RQ. In this way the applicant is oath ready on paper at least. But hey with CIC you never know!!

If anybody took test at st clair Avenue test this week ? how was wondering how was the interwiew with immigration officer? what did they ask you and did they give you oath date right away? my test date feb 7 th, 2013.

She told me that it is a system requirement to choose the interview. It is not a factual interview. It is just a system procedure etc. I have been in Canada for over 12 years. I studied here as an international student at University of Waterloo, and then working for gov't position. I applied in Sep 2011 for citizenship. I do not expect to have an interview, and if I do CIC judge should be ready to hear me ..lol
