RQ before test , timeline

Hi Guys,, Can anyone throw some light on my timeline..

I am getting a temp project in US and want to leave for 2-3 months..not sure if I should be expecting anything soon:

Applied May2012
As per cic, they started processing on mar2013
recd RQ in May2013
responded in June2013
Recd notice to prepare for test on Jan2014
Not sure what to expect ?????????????????????????

Interestingly someone I know has this timeline below:

Applied oct2012
recd RQ in july2013
Respeonded Aug2013
Recd Letter for test today Jan2014

IS there a date for your test on your letter?

I sent all the documents since I arrived in Canada which was in 2002.

I have received a letter now after 1.5 years of submitting the RQ stating that my file is being reviewed and I should start to prepare for test. Do you know after how long will I be getting the test date?

CIC issued 25,000 of the same generic letter on purpose of communication. So it seems that a large proportion of RQ recipients received this form letter.("coming months" could mean 2 months or 24 months). I suspect that many of us CIT 0521 will remain in limbo for months or years more. Copied from another members post.

2012-10-29: Application delivered to CPC-Sydney as per FedEx
2012-12-10: Status changed to "Received" in eCAS
2012-12-24: Letter (dated December 5th) and study guide received
2013-02-22: Application in process as per eCAS
2013-08-23: RQ letter received (Dated August 16th)
2013-09-27: RQ delivered to Scarborough office
2014-01-06: Received "notice to prepare for citizenship exam" from St. Clair CIC, dated Dec. 20th.
2014-01-15: Received "notice to appear - to write citizenship test and for verification of identity/documents" on Jan. 28th from St. Clair CIC, dated Jan. 14th.

About 3½ months from RQ being delivered to test date being issued. I wonder whether or not the RQ has actually been fully processed, however.

Great news!!! As a RQ recipient, I am so happy to see people like us receive good news like this.

I don't think the call centre knows, but they must have done something with my RQ since my case seems to have been moved from Scarborough to St. Clair.

Thats good news, btw do you see all those updates i.e. your timeline on ecas? Mine only shows up to "We started processing your application on..."
