Hello everyone,

I received my MR and RPRF request couple of days back. Here's the problem, I just got married yesterday so I'm wondering what are my next steps:
PS: I'm already working on her documents so that I can add her to the existing application.
1. Request for RPRF states that I should notify CPPO about changes in my marital status. So should I send an email to CPPO stating that my marital status has changed and I will be attaching those documents sooner or later or should I wait until I'm done with her documents and mail them all together?
1.1 Should I go ahead pay the RPRF? It's 490 CAD for one person only? So should I pay for both at this point?
2. How about medicals? Should I go ahead and do the medicals?

Please help me out. I would definitely like to get your input . You all have helped me throughout and can't thank you guys enough for all the good things your doing for everyone!

First of all, if you land before you submit info of your wife, you won't be able to sponsor your wife after your landing later.

I would submit the documents ASAP and e-mail CPP-O about your status change and book MR appointment for your wife ASAP as well.

Why would you pay RPRF for yourself only if you want to add your wife? I'd wait little bit until her file gets started at least.

Email CPP-O first regarding your change of status. Man, you KNEW you're going to marry more than weeks ago.

I should have been more clear about my situation. Yes, I knew I was going to get married few months back but I wasn't expecting to hear back anything from CPPO this early( especially not on my wedding day) . I just got married yesterday. I thought I had enough time to add her name to my current application after wedding. I would like to make it clear at this point that I'M NOT PLANNING TO LAND WITHOUT HER.
1. I have received MR only for myself. Should I do it for my wife as well and submit it?
2. I'm currently in India and will be flying back only next month. I will be able to add my wife's docs only when I get back because they want me to physically mail those docs . So should I send CPPO an email just saying that my marital status has changed and I won't be able to furnish the supporting docs until I'm back in the country?
3. At this point I will pay RPRF for both.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Vijay,
Congratulations for your marriage.

I would advise you to write an email to CIC about the change in your marital status so that they have on record that you responded as soon as it changed.

If you have all the documents ready why would you wait to come back to Canada to send these. You can mail those from India unless you are flying back soon. You would want them to start working on your wife's application as early as possible.

@PB02: I will be back in Canada on January 1st and I thought that this will be a safe bet to mail things from within Canada. Just a little worried to send documents from outside the country. I should be taking a leap of faith in this case I suppose. Thanks for you kind advice!

About RPRF: Should I go ahead and pay for my spouse as well and email it to cost recovery while I work on her supporting documents?? Any suggestions?

About Meds: I should do my medicals and ask my wife to wait for hers right? I believe the med request is made for individuals and not as a family?

Thanks again!

My case is similar to you except that I got RPRF & medical after I added my spouse.

I would suggest you to do the following:

Send an email to OttPilot-Immigration informing about your marriage (include marriage certificate). They'll reply with instructions on how to add your spouse.

RPRF: Pay 490 * 2 and send receipt to CPP. Pay it now.

Medical: Complete your medical ASAP using the form sent by CIC. At the same time, complete your wife's upfront medical (doctor will give upfront medical report). Send your medical and wife's upfront medical report (form with barcode) to OttPilot-Immigration. Include the reports along with your updated application package If you complete medicals before you submit updated application package. Else, you can send it later.

Regarding document submission: You can submit forms and documents from anywhere. Does not matter where you submit. For me, they only asked for scanned copies of all forms and documents. Only Original Police Certificates were requested to be sent by physical mail.
