Hi all,

I've been quietly following any Rome VO news on this forum for a while now but I feel like I should contribute a little ray of hope. I know I've felt frustrated at times with the lack of info from others dealing with this particular VO

We sent our application to Miss. on Sept. 24 (2013) and it was received the next day. I got my SA on Oct. 8th and we didn't get any notice of receipt from Rome until today....when they requested his passport and notified him that he is moving into the final approval stage! I'll post an update about how long they have his passport when we get it back. Keep your chins up!

YAY YAY YAY ;D Thank you so much for this ray of hope! I know of an Oct 2013 applicant who's husband landed on March 21, 2014 and some July applicants that were processed in 5-6 months. But then I know an August applicant still waiting so you have renewed my hope that they are still working!

Does anyone know how long does the Rome embassy hold the passports before issuing the visa?

Hello Md00123 and welcome! I'm a little bit confused about your case... Rome usually take about 5-8 months for the hole process. You will have your passport back no more than 30 days. Can you give me some more details about you?

I'm happy we choose Rome. We had the choice between Rome (my partner is Italian) and Vienna because we are living in Berlin. When we applied the timeline was 13 months for both visa offices but we asked for advice on here where to apply and people suggested Rome. We were originally inclined to go with Vienna because my partner tries to avoid Italian bureaucracy even though I told him it's technically a Canadian office in Italy. I'm knocking on wood here because it is still much too early for us but it seems like we made the right decision.

I think you did the best decision... Rome VO is a lot faster than Vienna VO. Hope for a fast process for you. Have you had any news from Rome VO? Such as Medical results or AOR?

No but I'm not worried. As long as it isn't happening for everybody except for us I'm not going to stress over it.

Thats good for you. We are in the same boat here... Where are you planning to reside in Canada?

In the Niagara region, where my family is from, for 3-6 months depending on when our application is processed. Then we would like to do some fairly long-term traveling and then somewhere in Ontario - the GTA, the Niagara Region or Tri-cities area (Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo) depending on where my partner gets a job. But who knows. I think we would love BC but it is so far from my family. We will see what happens.

Thats very nice! I'm sure that your partner will find the job he wants because Canada is a very large country with great oportunities and lots of beautiful places to see...

I'm sure he will find a job too we just have to see where. He is completing his PhD in Agriculture in the next couple months and is fluent in 3 languages (although French isn't one of them) so I know he will get a job somewhere, it just depends on finding who is looking for that at the right time.

Finally. Some good news for us... Today our ECAS updated to in process...We started processing ......... application on April 8, 2014
