We're going to be sending our application in couple of weeks (I HOPE) so I thought I'll start a new thread for all the Rome applicants.
I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my husband of 3.5 years.

Hi there. I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my husband and 1 year old son. We should be mailing our application on Monday! Any idea on a timeline? We hope to leave for Vancouver in September.

Hi, after a delay of a few month(child birth) I am also ready to start putting together my application. I'm a Canadian living in Italy and wife is Italian, we have been lived together for the past 4 years and our relationship has been 10+ years. My wife recently gave birth to our first child and are ready to move to Canada as the situation here in Italy is not great(wife's had to close her business because of the economic crisis) and myself not being able to find work in 4 years. I have many questions regarding medical exams and police clearance in Italy.

1. We plan on doing an Outland application from Canada
2. Get police clearance before leaving and then doing the translations in Canada.
3. Get the medicals done in Canada
4. Once all this is done we will send off the application.

I hope this is the way to go...how have you applicants from within Italy done it?

We live in Italy and are applying outland while still here. We are hoping to be in Vancouver in August to visit family and then move to Calgary in September.

We are thinking about doing the same thing but are worried if my husband gets called for an interview. Then he would have to travel to Rome.

I wouldn't worry much about an interview because Italy is a visa exempt country and if you have a well done application the chances of an interview are minimal. What have you included in your application and where did you get your translations done? I'm having a problem finding someone to do certified translations and copies.

The only thing that we need to get translated/certified are the police certificates because all other documents issued by the townhall are multi-lingue so English is on there.
However, we are waiting for the police certificates because my husband was charged with leaving a scene of the accident but he was pronounced not guilty. The prosecutor has until March 4 to do an appeal, which we were told they won't do it but we have wait it out so his police certificates will show that he was not guilty. Embassy told us it shouldn't affect his application but I think he might get called for an interview for this reason.

OTher than that we've been married for almost 4 years, we have a child together so I think our application is solid.

To get your documents translated and certified, just look up places on the internet. Where are you located? In Milan, there are so many just outside of the court house.

We are in a small town near Benevento. Which of your documents has English on them? The ones I have are italian only. I have found a couple of websites that do certified translations and will contact them Monday? How many pages is your application? And have you included lots of proof of relationship? This application is getting stressful....let's hope for the best!

Our marriage certificate, our daughter's birth certificate are all forms issued by Comune, and if you ask them, they will issue multi-lingue modulo.

Police Certificates are in Italian, they must be translated and certified in Procura. I'm in Bergamo and here is costs 18 euros a page to translate, then two marca di bollo, one is 16 euro and one is 3.68 euros, then the translater must take the translation to Tribunale to get them certified and this costs around 40 euros. This info I was told by a translator who does this for a living.

I still haven't completed all of the application, but since we've been married for almost 4 years and we have a daughter together, I'm including just documents to demonstrate that we are indeed married.

I'm more worried about proving intent to return.

I contacted the embassy in Rome and they said they can process the application even in couple of months if it's a really uncomplicated application. But they ae very busy because most of the applicants going through Rome are from Albania.

I've just saw that the processing time for Rome office went from 13 to 10 months
