woah so much hassle and documents for a visitor visa... it's sad they require so much to even consider giving a visa to the wife of a canadian.. sad indeed. nevertheless, if we were still apart from each other, i would do the same right now.

Edit: I saw now that you're looking for planes. Yeah, strange thing if you land first in Toronto... no idea how it's better for you.

deedee the prices are ridiculous especially for romanians : i found nice tickets at 800 CAD but with 2 stops.. seems like that would mess it up since they'd make me do the landing procedure in Toronto and i'd lose my connection to Montreal so i have to find another solution

yeah i *did* get the PPR e-mail on 10 april but chose to redo the medical so i can leave a bit later. i did the remedical last friay now i'm waiting.. we're planning to leave at the beginning of July

My husband will come in two months for the summer vacation, he paid 1200 CAD, when I looked for one way ticket, it was waaay more expensive, no idea how this is possible.

I think landing to Toronto first would be too much mess for you, at least I wouldn't want to go through such stress, I really hope you can find a good deal!

deedee it does depend where you leave from.. if he's leaving from Calgary for example, it will cost him more since it's farther away.. i hope we can find a good deal it's annoying 'cause we need to wait until we get the next PPR e-mail, i don't wanna risk getting it faster.

Hi all!
I was born in Romania but moved to Canada when I was 8. I married a Romanian citizen 6 June, 2014.
We applied for sponsorship on 28 November, 2014. I got my sponsor approval on February 22, 2015, file transfer on 22 March, 2015. Not much else from then on. I see that it takes 16 months for processing.
Why do they keep our files on hold for so long before they start processing??? Do they just keep them there in a corner until they "can" get to them?
This process is so frustrating because I left Canada to move to Romania and be with my husband. I am going crazy over this waiting period to say the least because I froze my university studies to move here. Ohhh mann!! Do these people have any compassion on our souls

I wonder now if my file was even being transferred to Bucharest, I only got the SA where it says it will be transferred, but when? on ecas still nothing, they don't even mention about receiving my medicals.

:-( this is so sad.. hopefully it won't take 16 months, I will die until then. they can bring my visa at the funeral

d_b, welcome!! ^^ i don't necessarily think it'll take 16 months. for us it took 9 months! so they CAN move faster especially thaT you moved here to be with your husband.. that's definitely a good proof right there. hang in there

Hi deedee33! I am pretty sure Bucharest got your documents by now. I wasn't told either but I sent an e-mail asking.
I do have some news. I think they started processing my husband's application because my husband just got an e-mail today saying "In order to continue processing your application we will need your birth certificate sent by mail within 60 days".
I'm really not sure what this all means... why would they need my husband's original birth certificate? Anyways, if they started processing it probably means that it won't be much long now until they make a decision, right? Was this the case for you too CutiePie92?

Hello d_b! Yeah I will probably wait a bit more and then I will send an email. Normally, they should ask me for my CSQ certificate, I am a QB applicant, so let's see how they move.

In our case, I find these are good news, somebody opened your file and is not sitting anymore in a corner. I think it's OK they started processing it, but I don't get either why they need the original birth certificate?! I clearly remember I have included one notarized copy of my birth certificate when I send the file, I assume your husband included one copy too, right? In this case, no idea why they need the original! If you didn't include the authorized copy in the first place, then it's normal for them to ask for it.

I hate them with their vague expressions and indications :-D Let's see if anyone else got such a request for additional documents.

d_b, the Bucharest embassy does NOT ask for original documents! it's weird they ask you for this anyway- should there be any reason why they asked you? only reason i see - they checked all your paperwork and found either something wrong with what you sent either you forgot it completely!

can u paste the whole e-mail here? (without your personal data, of course).

in my original app i included a legalized translation AND a notarized copy of my birth certificate, NOT the original document! (you were supposed to do the same in your application)
and no it doesn't mean they're close to finalizing, i got a document request (for CSQ) in august for example , a long time passed since then. it also doesn't mean they started processing your app, if it got to Bucharest in march this year, you have a long way to go. they probably just opened the file to make sure they ask for what's missing - unfortunately, after that, they toss your app back to the registry to catch dust sorry for being harsh, it's just how they do -_- stay strong! and show us that e-mail!

deedee, i start to get anxious. the clinic sent the medical results from my 2nd examination to the London medical department from CIC on april 29. since then more than 2 weekes passed. no other news from CIC i still can't buy the goddamn tickets.

I'm not sure how long it can take for the medicals, but up to one month... Something like this I read when I did the research for my app.. hopefully they contact you earlier!
Anyway it's summer and crazy prices, I wish you can find a great deal after you know for sure when you can leave.

I really start to ask myself what I'm doing with my life ) basically I need to wait another year. I'm not sure I can handle this, really.

I question myself why I even want to move to Canada since they treat me like sh*t. Isn't this against human rights? :-D To keep a family separated for so long? I should make a petition somewhere. They seriously do this on purpose. 3 months in canada + 16 months now and then of course our medicals expire so again waiting and FML! I was young when I met my husband, I will be already old when we finally are able to live under the same roof.

Quick question for you: I have received my SA and got a letter on 14.02.2015 (Valentine's day) informing me that our file will be forwarded to the VO in Bucharest. It's been now 3 months and no sign of any AOR2... I heard some VOs dont send any AORs so I am guessing my file should be already with them in Bucharest? The ECAS site still shows Application Received and Medicals received as well...

Thoughts?

if they can give me the answer by the end of the month it's.. ok , let's say. i let them know we wanna leave by the beginning of july. i hope they won't make us change our schedule! at the beginning of the month i also need to give my resignation and if CIC decides to keep me longer they put me in a difficult position

smack, Bucharest doesn't really give AOR2, i received one 'cause they asked me for additional documents. usually after you have been approved as a sponsor, the app arrives at Bucharest in 2-3 weeks the most don't worry! you can order the notes if you wanna find out!
