Romanian Timeline - In Process

Meds have been completed for dependent child that is in Bucharest and second sets of fingerprints have been submitted.
Wonder how long we will wait for passport request?
Seems like we are getting close to the end.
Sent application in September 2012, they started working on it Feb 2013...... It has been a crazy year, lots of ups and downs but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Why they required fingerprints? Is this for the child?

They asked for a second set of finger prints for my spouse because I think the original ones had expired and now they want digital prints.
The child is not coming to Canada but is his dependant so still needs to do medicals in case in the future she would like to come.
YEs I know we have waited for a very long time. There was some issues with an agent who never sent us the request for the medicals for the child. We had to send an appeal for them to re-open or file back in November because we never did get the request for the medicals. We were lucky the agent saw that it wasn't our fault. So we just got the request last week for the child to go for medicals and now they have everything. The thing is you cannot send the child for medicals before they send you a request or else we would have sent her.

Now I cross my fingers and wait hopefully for a shorter time

I'm a little confused, because it's not required fingerprints for sponsored person, only he/she lived in USA and maybe some other countries. If you don't mind tell me why they asked this.

My Spouse is Romanian,
The finger print request was for us to get from the Royal Mounted Police here in Canada as we applied Inland and he has been living here for over 3 years now. So they need to make sure there is nothing. He has also lived in the USA and we sent those prints along with his criminal check from Romania back in February of 2013 I believe.

Your child does not need to do criminal checks if the are under the age of 18.

I've repeated the x-ray today and found out that it's pretty standard for Romanians to be asked for another set of x-rays if their meds expire. And that it will remain a standard as long as we still have TB in the country. It doesn't matter if the applicant is a smoker or not.

The new exam was 25$ and the CD with the x-ray will be sent tomorrow, by FedEx, to London. So it shouldn't take them to long to extend my med's validity :-D

Where in Canada are you planning on immigrating to?

We're heading to Toronto.

i'm curious what have you done with the police certificates - you know ours expire in 3 months after they've been issued.. is it ok to send them with the application to Mississauga or wait until they are requested later?

CIC needs to officially receive your application, including the Police Certificate, in no more than 3 months after the document was issued. Because in Romania you don't have to wait for a long period of time for the Police Clearance to be issued, it is mandatory that you include the document in the file.

It doesn't matter what it's validity is in the country that issued it (in Romania it's valid 6 months, by the way) - CIC has to receive the file with the Police Clearance in it, in no more than 3 months of its issuance.

I know! And you're lucky to have discovered it before sending in your application. I wasn't so lucky :

But it still helped me during the long months of waiting. It showed me what I could have added to the application and it helped me to predict what the VO will want from us

From my experience I can say that Romania does not have any special demands. And it looks like they understand local situations and move pretty quickly.

The only specific thing I have encountered was the redo of my chest x-ray for the extension of my meds validity - I understand that they only ask that for countries with relatively high levels of TB. But I would not have needed an extension if I would have found this forum earlier and not done my meds 6 months before applying

oh 6 months before applying, that's pretty early .. yeah unfortunately TB is still an issue in our country

well it doesn't matter too much anymore, you're almost done with everything and you can start dealing with other issues as a PR! (sorry this doesn't seem very encouraging )

Does anybody here have kids? Do the kids make any difference in the processing time? My youngest daughter is having quite a difficult time and the oldest one isn't quite all right either. I am a total mess I don't know how I can survive alone with them for so many months... Has any of you been through this experience?

I have two children. I have no big problems, we leave like that many year. My small one was born 4 years ago and see his father twice a year. Maybe my son think that this is normal. Try to be positive.

Some strange thing. Today I received email from the Bucharest.Acknowledge the receipt of my documents and that I am in queue, pending the assessment of the visa officer. They asked for new Schedule A in November, but they said that they do not send Acknowledge the receipt. I hope this is a good sign.
