Yes but you are just assuming the OP shares your values, they may not. They may have a completely different cultural and religious out look than you, you have no idea what religion (if any )they are, you have no idea what cultural values they adhere too, you are just assuming. They could be born and raised in Canada/America and share the cultural norms of North American culture. All people raised here have more in common with each other than the countries of their parents/grandparents.

Stop assuming stuff, you're mistake is you are judging the OP as if he was some dude you know very well from your neighborhood in New Dehli, he isn't.
Disclaimer: this post is not to show how good I am with words nor that I would go any distance just to prove that I am right!

although we chose ourself to come to these countries and live by the rules and laws set by their governments BUT ofcourse we are free to live according to our cultural, religious, ethical and moral values which of course is a beauty of these countries
you admit or not but its a big truth that people of sub-continent shares almost the same culture (here I mean culture not religion) and whereever they live in the world they have their own identity like other nations, I am totally disagree with you that the generation born in America/Canada or anywhere in the west don't follow their culture, you are not talking about majority, I am from UK and 99% sub-continent population here follows their culture which is transfered from their parents or grand parents, we are talking here about majority and if you are talking about exceptional case then it could be anything, please don't go too far just to prove you are right and dont spread false info
moreover, what are you trying to prove by pointing out specific country or people, do you think we are better than others? be realistic this idiotic approach has brought a lot of destruction to our country and look where we are standing and where are the other nations.
everyone has the right to say whatever they feel, no? then what is the point of targetting people by their country or place they are from? one could have come up with same words about your country, what would you feel? wouldnt you call them racist?

Note: rjessome, I wasnt referring to you when I said how self satisfied we are, it was a master piece of sarcasm which went wrong way, lol, I have always apreciated your efforts for helping people out, but if you felt I pointed at you, I am sorry! unfortunately this argument turned very ugly

ROFL, again you assume that just because something applies in the UK it holds true here. I know in the UK it is like that people stick to their own communities and such, however that is not the case here. The UK has far more racial tension (and ethnic ghettos) , and the UK government has even declared that its multicultural policies have failed and it needs to do a better job in terms of immigrant assimilation.

Also in the UK many Muslims (especially Pakistanis) come from low education backgrounds and are quite marginalized, thus they tend to stick to their own little ghetto, that is certainly not the case in any American or Canadian city. The Muslims in North America tend to be far more educated and well to do, and do not live in ghettos.

In North America the situation is very different, people born and raised in the U.S and Canada are much more assimilated into North American culture than immigrants in the UK, people tend to mix and mingle much more over here .

I know this because I was friends with and grew up with many first and 2nd generation Muslims , Arabs Pakistanis, Afghans, Turkish, etc...your typical young person who is born and raised here has much more in common with people over here than the countries of their parents and grandparents, and consider themselves Americans/Canadians.

Thus you have no basis to judge the OP. You have obviously never lived here so you don't know, your writing is hard to understand and makes little sense, you just sound like some FOB trying to lay judgement on others.

I think it goes for everyone here. We all know it's a long wait, so if you really don't love the person of course you won't be able to get through this process. I've spent 5 years away from my husband but because of how much I love him, we're still together. This is not "Hollywood Fantasy", this is real life.

What might be fantasy for you is a reality for us. Individualism is a poor excuse for getting 'bored', for 'moving on'. It's very easy to break a marriage/relationship, but it takes ten times the effort the keep it going. And no, Im not referring to abusive relationships. Why does 'real' and 'practical' have to mean divorce? Can we just delete people like that from our lives? More importantly, do they deserve that?

And this has nothing to do with the OP. Just a genuine question to a society that uses the term 'divorce' so flippantly.

Indeed. Anyhow, I concur most with the post mentioning this is a forum for legal advice. I think it's reprehensible to disavow one's own marriage so nonchalant-like, and we all know there's that type of person prevalent in society, but I don't really think this is a forum for that type of judgement.

Exactly. Well said. If you don't want to put in the effort in the first place, why get married?

lol, just naming those nations does not prove that they have ''much more'' in common with people in north America, can you give some example what they have in common?
you are talking about racial tension, lol, no one but you and another person here brought up ''your country my country thing'', moreover, if only you or people around you have forgotten where you belong doesnt mean that everyone has changed, people with strong family backgrounnds stick to their culture and tradition and yet prosper in western societies
FYI world's richest south-asian immigrant community lives in the UK not in north america, my words are very simple and straightforward and based on truth but illusion, for a healthy argument you need some facts not just that what you believe!
your thinking truly shows you are from one of those confused desis who are yet to decide where they belong, you keep pretending to be one of them but you are ''NOT'', not only in north america but we have such types everywhere, who are you trying to make happy? lol
I am more than happy to be FOB if it helps me stick to my moral, ethical and cultural beliefs, atleast I am genuine!

What are you talking about? I simply said that most Muslims in North America are more well to do and educated than their counterparts in Europe, as in North America they are more spread out and far more integrated. Don't even argue with me on that, I've lived in London England for almost 3 years buddy. I know very well the situation there. Many Pakistanis there live in council and are involved in crime and drugs, just go to East London, Brmingham etc..there is a lot of racial tension between certain ethnic groups, BNP parties etc..I was just mentioning that. I was saying the situation is not like that in North America, Muslims are better integrated into society, Muslims are richer here, those people who grew up or were born here consider themselves Canadian or American, and that is a good thing, integration is good. Muslims here don't live in council houses, most live in spread out suburban communities, and their kids identify with North America. This is a good thing.

your thinking truly shows you are from one of those confused desis who are yet to decide where they belong, you keep pretending to be one of them but you are ''NOT'', not only in north america but we have such types everywhere, who are you trying to make happy? lol

Confused desis? Where did I say I was Desi? I am a Muslim though. LOL you have such a FOB mentality and again you keep assuming, you know what they say, when you assume you make an ass of yourself ROFL and yes I am also Canadian, I was born here and so were my parents, my great grandparents came from Eastern Europe ,Turkey and Lebanon. I am friends with many people whose parents come from Pakistan, those who were born here consider themselves Canadian or American and their no different from me or any other Canadian/American, their mentality is the same. That is true with the first and 2nd generation of any immigrant community, not just Pakistanis, but Japanese, Chinese , East Indian Sikhs, etc..all their children consider themselves Canadian first, and that's good.

No one is confused, you seem to be the one who is confused, you are just a FOB my friend.
