I would contact my MP. I would also get letters of support from people in your lives that know you and know about your relationship.

It's a very sad story I suspect that the visa office did some sort of discrimination towards his husband and the lawyer can prove it

Just to add to the chorus of voices, to get rejected on those particular grounds is, apart from being highly offensive, probably not going to hold up at a higher level. Definitely lawyer up and fight this. Why that particular visa officer thinks that the two of you, as a committed and monogamous couple, would be particularly keen on the bar scene or the parades, is beyond me. Put it this way, if they're rejecting you on the basis of questions that they flat-out would not even ask a heterosexual couple, because they're expecting you to conform to a very particular stereotype of a gay male, they're standing on very, very shaky ground, legally.

seems like discrimination to me

On the Vienna office this is discrimination maybe the lawyer can prove it because to me sounds like discrimination and the interviewer should be fired
Isn't that right?
I always though I will never be discriminated in Canada. I always pretended to be something I'm not out of fear of discrimination, and now this is happening. Now, i'm gay, some people know I'm, I don't want to share it with the universe and I'm still discriminated for not being gay enough.
But thanks guys I really do appreciate all of your advices and nice words. Now we we wait for TRV.
Ohhhh
Please God,
seems like discrimination to me
It is discrimination.
Flat out.
That's why I need him to come back so we can fight this.
I really hope he comes back with his work permit, so we can fight this.
The more I read rejection E mail the more pissed of I get.
What in the world is wrong with people?
None of those reasons for refusal were valid. None.
At first I thought ok, maybe pictures.
But who asks for more intimate pictures? What, embracing each other is not enough?
Gay bara and gay community???? I don't care about it. Great they it is there more great that people can enjoy and be the part of it, but we do not care to be the part of it.

Beyond pissed off.
Thanks guys.
Hopefully TRV comes through.

come on this is Canada not some backwards country. man and woman or man and man or woman and woman should be equal one love. I cannot believe this with the Canadian embassy in Vienna are they ignorant you got go to the mp,lawyer I do not get they can help refugees but they cannot help legit couples like you. and these embassy around the world needing sensitive training for cases like yours cause I know balkian states like bonsia, serbia and etc is very conservative

I was thinking you should contact the human rights commison because what they did was plan out discrimation on stereotying

Very strange story. Could it be the interviewer might've been gay and got offended that the two of you are not participating in some stereotypical flamboyant gay activities often enough? LOL
From perspective of CIC it's like this: they understand part of their role to be weeding out fake from the real. To that end sometimes they do want proof that there is intimacy that is obvious in how you look at each other in pictures - do they show friends vs lovers; whether there is proof that you've been living as a couple as opposed to two male roommates, etc.
It could be that the officer held some kind of doubt about the relationship, whether the sponsorship is based on a 'marriage of convenience'.

Well, it is a strange story.
VO obviously had some doubts.
We made mistake by not taking more pictures, but since it happened I talked to bunch of couples and lost of them claim not to have intimate pictures. I wish I could show you some of our pictures. Anyways I contacted some friends to see if we have any pictures on their phones and it seems like we have some so I will start collecting them. If he comes back on his work permit I will make sure to take as many pictures, especially intimate ones, as much as we can so we can fight this.

How do you prove you live as lovers and not roommates?
We even had bunch of hotel receipts on both our names, but since we would stay at the hotel when we were visiting close friends in another city, VO said that that doesn't prove that we traveled for the purpose of tourism. What the hell is that supposed to mean. We were traveling and staying at the hotels for the purpose of visiting a friend, and spending some time away from every day life. This whole rejection letter is bullshit. The more I read it, the more pisses of I'm.
I whish he would come back soon so we can see what can be done legally, since the whole thing screams prejudice and discrimination.
