We have tried to pay the application fee with a Canadian Visa/Debit card, but was not accepted, even with the account having more than the sufficient funds available. Did anyone experience this problem or know if they accept this type of payment? Please let us know asap. We are living in Egypt and have our file ready to send and just waiting on the payment to go through. Thank you in advance.

When my husband was paying the fees online, the error occur for few times but in the end of the month we found out that the funds were transferred and we paid fees which was more than enough:S

however CIC sent us a letter about refund

Thanks Marium, you gave us some hope because we have tried more than 10 times today. Each time they refused our payment. How and when did your husband get the receipt to send with the paper? Because we can't send the file without the receipt. Also do it matter whose name on the visa/debit card? Can you give me more details on this please?

I dont have much info about it but the receipt should show up online after payment

You need to call your bank. They probably need authorization to put through a large transaction to a foreign website.

I don't think u can pay with a debit visa! It has to be an actual visa! If the payment go through you receive the receipt!

Thank you amikety, I am Canadian and was trying to use my Canadian ATM (visa/Debit card) and the card was use before for a large amount transaction online. Our question is can the website accept this type of card? Thank you.

A Visa debit will process as a Visa. Visa caps at $10,000 USD. That should have no effect on the charge unless its over $10k USD.

I'm not aware of a Canadian debit card with a Visa logo. They're common in the USA but not in Canada. Is this an actual credit card? Either way, the bank is your best help. They can see why the charge is rejecting.

Thank you amikety, we appreciate your help on this.

I have noticed that debit cards and prepaid credit cards don't work very well, try to use a credit card of a friend in Canada and then remit the amount to him via Western union.

Thanks Camelboy, really appreciate your answer, but the question is, they won't work ever or sometimes work?

i have no experience with the cic payment, but i used to have a canadian prepaid credit card, 50% failed when i try to purchase on canadian onlne shoppings such as Chapters Invigo.
I am not sure what is wrong with those , but try to get in touch with your bank they will probably sort out the problem and will identify what the issue is.

It's 99% paying a large sum outside of the country. I had the same issues when I moved to Canada from the USA even though I called them and told them I was moving. Any foreign transaction over a few hundred dollars automatically flags your accounts unless you live or travel overseas frequently.

The bank may or may not authorize the charge. Have you called them yet? If they are unhelpful, let us know what they say.

Thank you Camelboy, I have a question here, id this ok if I let one friend of mine pay the fee for me by his credit card?

Thanks amikety, we don't think this card could do the job, the question is, does this could work if I use one of my friends credit card?
