Hi
I applied for pr in Nov 2013 under CEC noc code 6321 as a chef. I did diploma in tourism and travel n worked for indian restaurant as a chef
for one year after i got my PGWP. I was working as a part when i was in colleage as a chef in training. I got a refusal from cec states that i dont have enough job training to be a chef and they said that u don't have any certification from food industry which usually need for chef.
So , i am just wondering what would i do now because i am still working at the same restaurant as a chef.
And can i apply for PNP as a chef and my salary is $15 hourly or i can reapply under cec and how.
Plz give me ur suggestion i really need help.
Thanks in advance.

Ohh so they are really checking experience I thought that they approve all of us.

You can apply under AINP but you need to pass red seal exam for chefs/cooks. To do that you will need to prove to AIT that you've worked 7020 hours in the industry (doesn't really matter which country).

I'm serious, before moratorium they were accepting everyone.

If you want to apply for AINP as a cook/chef:

No, they weren't. There's a difference between a cook and a chef (different NOCs), and cook has been excluded from CEC since... November 2013? My guess is the VO determined that the OP was a cook and not a chef, therefore, the application was refused...

Cooks are still eligible under the PNP and the FSW (arranged employment) streams... If you have your employer's support, not a bad option...

Immigration is a privilege, not a right.
Applying doesn't guarantee acceptance, and in theory, you can be denied for even the flimsiest reason.

That's the only difference for you between cook and chef? Are you serious?

Hey, I also did 2yr Tourism diploma, applied as a Cook through CEC. I assume, you are still holding PGWP, its fortunate to hold open work permit at this situation for food service workers since there is no LMO. I suggest, just apply through PNP asap as a Cook NOC B 6322, It is skilled position. I have lots certificate and prior experience, i still chose to apply as a Cook to play safe.
Exactly that's what I'm talking about. Getting your residence it's a privilege but so far CIC was accepting everyone that applied. People with tourism diploma applying for cooks/chefs. Just read on the website requirements for cooks:

Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks
or
Completion of college or other program in cooking
or
several years of commercial cooking experience are required.

People are applying for cook/chef positions just to get their PR and that's why wages went down. Now CIC put more effort to check applications which in my opinion is a good move.

As I said it before the best choice for you now is to apply under PNP (AB, SK, MN) or any other province that accept cooks.

With CEC I would be careful since after the moratorium and all that events with RBC, Chinese workers, Iron workers etc. they put more effort on checking if you meet requirements for cooks/chefs.
