What could cause refusal to give someone a PR?

3) Medical
4) Misrepresentation
5) Incorrect completion of application
6) Ineligible relationship (Marriage of convenience for example)
7) Inadmissible from previous attempts to enter Canada illegally.

The list goes on.. What did you have in mind?

I dont have anything in mind. I was just wondering how someone could be refused.

If for instance I get a job, being the sponsor, and I quit after my applications are all filed and I decide I want to travel to visit my husband but I have proof that I will be back for the following school year, could they refuse because I.no longer have a job?

As long as you aren't on any financial assistance then no.

I think once you are approved for sponsorship that's it. They no longer look at your current job status or income. although I am curious what would happen after being approved and someone declares bankruptcy during the second part of the process what would happen because they are still obligated to sponsor their spouse for 3 years.

They will probably question sponsor how they are planning to support themselves along with the person being sponsored and his/her dependants if any.

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect.

An applicant may be found inadmissible by the visa or immigration officer (under A38(1))
if a medical officer has concluded that the applicant's health condition is likely to be a
danger to public health...

It is ONLY the "excessive demand on health or social services (R20)." section that Family Class sponsorship is exempt from.

Health grounds

38. (1) A foreign national is inadmissible on health grounds if their health condition
(a) is likely to be a danger to public health;
(b) is likely to be a danger to public safety; or
(c) might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand on health or social services.

Exception

(2) Paragraph (1)(c) does not apply in the case of a foreign national who
(a) has been determined to be a member of the family class and to be the spouse, common-law partner or child of a sponsor within the meaning of the regulations;
(b) has applied for a permanent resident visa as a Convention refugee or a person in similar circumstances;
(c) is a protected person; or
(d) is, where prescribed by the regulations, the spouse, common-law partner, child or other family member of a foreign national referred to in any of paragraphs (a) to (c).

This should be fine as long as you (the sponsor) are a Canadian citizen. If you are a PR, then you must be in Canada for the duration of the processing. (Leaving for a short (i.e. a couple weeks) vacation is fine, but any longer would be a problem.)

Get YOUR facts straight before you reprimand other people's comments. There are medical cases that would be refused even under family sponsorship. Canada will not admit anyone with a seriously contagious disease. They aren't going to put other people's health at risk for the sake of family sponsorship.

Of course, when people have acute infectious diseases，such as TB, or H1N1, they shouldn't go to Canada! And of course they can't, and that is a special medical condition. But I think that is just temporary, after they are cured, they should still can apply and go to Canada.

The Fact is, yes, no matter what, they can't refuse you as long as you don't have a virus that is active and will likely spread and make a "zombie" apocalypse!
