Hi all,

I'm now at India, when I asked for reference letter from my Canada HR, they told that to contact my HR in India and get it after one week fight in email >:(

I was in Canada around 2 yrs and in WP (Intra Company Transfer). My Manager (Supervisor - Client) while I was working resigned few months before and even he can't provide the letter on his letter head.

If I get a ref. letter from Indian branch saying my position and responsibilities, will it acceptable?

Please advise.

Hi

If i were you, i would ask my Indian HR to quote that I worked at the location <Work place location in Canada> and as the employee is now in India, the office in Canada will not be able to issue the letter.

Add more details to substantiate that you worked in Canada and that due to policy issues the letter cannot be issued from the Canadian office.

All the best!

Hi,

Thanks for the advise, I will try. But I suspect that they are diverting to avoid giving such letter.
Yet to contact Indin HR. But they might say that they don't know about my duties performed at Canada.
or They may provide letter stating the dates and salary details when I was at Canada. :(

Let me try.

Thanks.

Letter from your Indian HR will not help. In case your Canadian supervisor has resigned, you can alternatively ask his back up / supervisor to issue a letter detailing your duties and responsibilities in his absence. It is a big risk applying for CEC without this letter from Canadian supervisor.

In case you submit all docs required with a Reference letter (from Indian HR), your application will clear the first level. You will be issued AOR but your application will be rejected when it comes up for processing (7-8 months later). Fees will not be refunded.

Dear Shri Boss,

I was in sort of similar place, i worked for a company which closed for business after i worked there for 2.5 years, they couldnt issue me a employment letter or reference letter.

I applied CEC after 8 months of leaving canada from old reference letter, that they gave me when i applied for FSW while i was in canada, but with my application i informed them i cannot get recent letter as company is closed, but i submited 3 years of T4 and Record of employment given to me after completion of employment.

My file was processed and I got Passport request last week.

If you have evidence that you worked there for 2 years( 37.5 HRS per week) like T4s and ROE it could work, also provide them copy of your work permit and LMO if it exists in your case ( dont know how works in intra company transfer)

Keep faith and go through CIC website they have all the information you need and any confusion please ask here in forum I'm sure many ppl will suggest you what is the procedure.

DJ.

PS- I withdrew my FSW application after i applied for CEC, since i left canada i was no more eligible for arranged employment category.

Hi DJ,

Thanks for your advise.

I have all Pay stubs with hrs mentioned on them and T4s. Even I have my employer letter submitted for LMO excemption which states my role and responsibilities going to be at Canada.

Also, now I have my employer's email saying that they can't provide letter.

Thanks again.

I disagree, I don't see the similarity. You had a letter from a Canadian employer that described your duties and responsibilities, even though it was not current. Sri_boss does not have this, the VO will have no way to evaluate job duties/responsibilities.

Sri_boss - I would suggest that you ask your your former manager (? manager or client??? ) to write the letter anyway, even if it's not on letterhead. He can explain that he is no longer with the company, provide a business card for contact information, and perhaps provide the name and contact information of someone who is still at the company.

The problem with this, is it does not indicate that you did this job for a year.

(Employer or client?) This will help....

Shri Boss,

Do you have letter from when you applied for work permit..that should have your duties and responsibilities. Also if you get Record of employment that should say how much you worked, or rather how much hours you got paid for.

what i meant was that Jes-on.

I am not expert but it can work, from what i remember CIC instruction manual said if you cant provide recent letter of employment , you have to mention why.

Please follow the manual and CIC website, most information is self explanatory so you will get idea what you have and what you will require.

Thanks

DJ

Dear Jes and DJ,

Thanks for the inputs.

Let me make it clear.

1. When I applied for WP for 1 yr, My employer (Not client) provided the letter for LMO excemption through attorney which clearly states that my role, responsibilities, Salary/ Annum and mentioned that at least for 12 months I need to be there at Canada.

2. NOw I have the email copy from employer who states that they can't provide letter since I'm at India now.

3. I have worked at client office, I can request my ex-manager (Supervisor ) for ref letter in a plain paper at least (Here only not sure whether I can get it or not? ) :(

4. The ADP pay stubs I have for all the months which states my Salary for that month, Hrs per Week, Total amount paid till date from first month, Tax deductions etc. Here , There was a change after 6th month since I got a Increment. I can't able to take the prints from my letter (restricted), But I have taken the prints from screenshots.

5. I have an letter from my employer states that my start date and Annual salary for rental application purpose. (This salary changed at the end of my tenure).

6. Have my Landing doc (WP) which states that my NOC occupation (Mech engr) and duration.

For duration of employment and Salary, I have enough documents. But for Role and Responsibility, I have only the WP and LMO excemption letter. I will also try to get a letter from my ex-manager (Client) in a paper with his details. But not sure whether he will provide or not (??).

Thats all the docs I have.

PM me also if you have any other suggesstions.

Thanks again.

The Lmo / wp documentation isn't sufficient as it states the duties you are expected to carry out if you get the job.

A reference letter confirms you have actually done the duties and for what period of time. Cec is based on Canadian experience, that's why the documentation is required.

Jsm,

So, If I can get a letter from my manager (Supervisor) from a plain paper will be ok? Since he is also not with that company now.

Thanks.

I don't know if it will be sufficient for the officer, but its probably your best bet if you can't get anything else.
