I have found this link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=867&top=6
States "Citizenship and Immigration Canada will accept ECA reports for five years from the date they are issued, so long as they were issued on or after April 17, 2013."

There are different views on weather applicants must submit their ECA report with their application or just provide the reference numbers. Though CIC has facility to check credentials with appropriate authorities, its always recommended to submit your ECA report along with your application.

Hi guys! Two quick questions:

I just received my ITA for EE in both {BC}PNP & CEC on February 10th.

1.) I completed my medical on July 9th, 2015 - technically the six-month validity period that CIC is requesting would have expired the (recently) passed 9th of February. My complete submission (minus FBI PCC [due to current processing times]) are scheduled for final upload in the next 12 days, upon receipt of my 2015 T-4's and RCMP PCC. Do you think if I submit my medical with 5 months validity (instead of requested 6) my file will be automatically refused/cancelled?

2.) Lastly, regarding the 'personal activities' section of the questionnaire, are we allowed to have overlapping activities? It would make sense, that for example, I was enrolled in university at the same time as working, and potentially switching jobs and traveling over the summer. Why do they use such a nonsensical chronological timeline that doesn't go beyond institutional norms (name of employer, school, organization)? Some of us aren't squares, and actually like to travel and backpack also, thank you very much. Pardon the rant, but it seems silly. How'd you guys manage to successfully satisfy system requirements for your personal activities time line?

1. It might be narrow but I think 5 months should still be enough as it is likely the application is done in that time frame (average and in particular because CEC is generally faster). Also I haven't heard any one having issue because of this. I believe the official wording was PREFERABLY six months. So hopefully it should be fine. Still this is just an opinion.

2. Overlapping history is fine. You could actually make a separate table on a fresh page listing the same columns as in the original form but also adding textual explanation indicating periods of overlap. I know many people who have done that and are through (including myself).

I'm facing the same problem. My results are valid for 4.5 months.

So here's what I've found:
Note: The results of your exam are only valid for 12 months. When you submit your application for permanent residence, the results of your exam must be valid for at least 6 months. If we approve your application, but you do not come to Canada as a permanent resident during those 12 months, you may need to have another exam. For this reason, it is a good idea to complete the exam as close as possible to the date you submit your online application.

Also, I've talked to 2 Canadian lawyers who said the following:
"My recommendation would be to retake the medical exam if you can get it done within the deadline for submission. But if this isn’t possible, just include your existing results. You may be asked to re-take the test down the line, but at least you will get your application in the system."

"It’s probably a good idea to re-do it; they seem to dismiss these things without warning"

I would advise you guys to redo the medical. Don't take a chance. If they've asked for min of 6 months validity, adhere to it.
Don't give the opportunity to be rejected for a flimsy reason. Better to take the stress/cost of doing the meds now than being rejected after months of processing.

Hello all, I have filled out my FSW-EE profile and I am waiting for an ITA, and I have a few questions;

1. I have 4 years work experience with the same company in the same job, however, I worked in 2 different countries (under 2 different supervisors). Do I need to provide a reference letter for each country i have worked in? or is one letter enough?

2. I am now currently in United Kingdom on a study visa, and I hope to complete my FSW & PR in UK, however, my UK study permit expires in 31 May 2016 (And I cannot renew it). Would CIC have an issue with my application, as my UK permit might expire while they are still processing my PR? Could I be rejected because my UK permit is about to expire?

3. If I switch over to a 2-year tourist visa for the UK, would Canada VO have a problem with processing my COPR knowing i am in UK on a tourist visa.

I would greatly appreciate your input on this guys :-\

Probably the wrong thread for these questions, but here goes:

1. Depends on your company. If you can get the HR department to cover and certify your experience in both countries (e.g. global HR), then you only need one letter. My company refused to do this. The HR department of country A said that they couldn't certify the work experience of country B (and vice versa). So I needed to get two letters.

2. No

3. No

Guys, do you know how the CIC calculates the 6 months for the need of police certificate?

I stayed in Algeria in total 5 months and 20 days (not in a row I had two weeks vacation after the first 3 months). Do they consider the partial month is a month?

I didn't provide PCC for this periods, is there a possibility of rejection?

Thanks

As per Feb 11th update on CIC website , Individuals who stayed a total of 6 months in other countries need to submit PCCs from respective countries. Earlier this requirement was for 6 months in a row.

5 months 20 days is very close to 6 months and CIC in past has asked applicants to provide PCC in such cases. It depends on your Visa Officer.
Also, short vacations are also calculated towards 6 month duration.

Totally agree. I would advise you to get one in case they requested it later. Don't waste your time waiting until they ask you to provide it.

Dear lizzy Bob am sorry to be the bearer of a different recommendation because I have been in similar situation in the past. Though I didn't apply for PR but I applied for work permit while my wife applied for study permit.

In your first question, getting a letter from your HR covering those period should suffice just make sure it includes the relevant details like roles and responsibilities, duration, stating permanent and full time blah blah.... like others suggested

In the other case regarding your application i strongly suggest you apply from your home country, this form part of the reason why we're not given the visa (cause I was on a student visa) plus we didn't get a PCC. The gamble would be too much, make the application from your home country and not UK.

I hope this help and all the best...

Friends,

My first application for PR was returned as Incomplete on 29-Jan.

How long will CIC take to process the refund?

Is there a way we can track the same?

Thanks in advance

If you can get the PCC then apply, if you are unable to get PCC you might want to update via CSE to show you have tried but that you cant get it.

I know of people who were were near the 6 month mark and although they believed they didnt need a PCC from that country (and unfortunately they just couldnt get one as it was too difficult for that country) they still showed in LOE their attempts through email/screenshots etc - could be difference between a rejection, being asked for the PCC or getting PR
