Hi All

Have just got passport stamped for PR. Validity for landing in Canada is till 30th Nov'15 as spouse's passport is valid till that date. Planning to fly to Toronto by 1st week of Aug'15 by which time spouse's passport validity will be little less than 4 months.

1. Will the less than 6 months validity be a problem at Indian Immigration at the time of exit? or will COPR be proof enough?

2. If airline we choose has stopover in London or Brussels would those countries' immigration have any problem with the passport validity when we pass through for connecting flights?

3. After spending 2 to 3 months in Canada and collected our PR cards, insurance cards etc, we intend to return to India for winding up some other stuff which can't happen prior to leaving. If return to India is around Oct'15/ Nov'15, by that time passport validity will be less than a month. Will that again be a problem as on point # 1 and 2 mentioned above?

4. One option to avoid Q3 is to renew passport at Indian embassy in Canada before returning. But in his case our permanent Mumbai address is not in the 'machine readable' sections of his passport;it was given to him as a hand-written endorsement on a separate page inside. Any idea if that would create any problem for renewal in Canada?

5. Also anyone has experienced Indian passport renewal in Toronto recently? While their websites mention 1 to 2 months, does it actually take that long?

Looking forward to guidance on the above from experienced group members pls!!

thanks
Aasa

I think the > 6 months validity is only while applying for any visa's. For travel it's till the validity of your passport.

happy to share

Got my stamped passport back from NY Today. I sent my passport on 1st Apr and got it back within 10 days from NY Consulate.

Just want it share information with people. May be it will help somebody:

My original office was New Delhi. As I am in US, I sent a case specific request to NDVO AND NYVO sseparately that I want to get my visa stamped in New York. New Delhi office has not replied till date but NY OFFICE REPLIED WITHIN a week and asked me to submit the passport to their office.

After that I got passport stamped in another 10 days.

So it makes me think my case specific query to New York office worked.

Hope this information helps somebody.

hi members.......

Two little queries :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

a) In my application filed in July, 2014; I mentioned Vancouver as the place where I intended to live in Canada.
Now after stamping of Visa, can I move to Toronto (and not Vancouver)?
Will there be any problem?

b) After 3L, how much time is taken by NDVO to show DM?

Thanks and God bless all........................ :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

All documents except passport are to be submit original on requests I hope. :)

I got an extension for PCC submission till April 30th, but submitted it on 10th March Itself...
IS the Request for Extension will lead to delay in processing?
