Finally landed in Canada (Toronto, Pearson airport) on 18th may 12:00 PM.
Procedure seems pretty straight forward.
1) Once you landed, you will proceed directly to the Immigration Center. They will check your Passport and Landing documents (COPR).
2) From there you will be forwarded to the newcomer section, where they will note down everything. It will take about 10-15 minutes. And also they will keep Copy of COPR (With Photo) and second copy will be attached to your passport for future reference. please keep this copy with you all the time as it will require for every single items.i.e SIN, Opening Bank account, Library card etc..I landed on Monday and it was holiday so i couldn't get SIN. Otherwise you will get your SIN only at airport. Also, officer will ask for the address where you are intended to stay. This is require for PR card.
3) Collect your luggage and at last they will ask you for any items to be followed. They didn't ask for B4 or any copy of that. But i have declared that i am carrying more than 10k CAD. So they just filled up one form and asked my son to stamp on it
That's it. And one more point, if you are carrying more luggage, Porter will be there to help you but they will charge you $22 for their service and also have to pay the tip to Porter. I though it was free service and i had to pay $22 + Tip
Second Day:
I went to the Service Canada center for applying SIN for all of us. They will ask for passport and Landing documents. Enter the ZIP Code where you are staying and you will get list of nearby Service Canada Center.
On the same day, i opened the bank account with couple of banks. There are few deals going on in TD and RBC bank but understand the terms and condition for proceeding further.
Third Day:
Went to the library and got the library card instantly. Also, got the new SIM Card. I have got Micromax mobile from India and it is compatible with Fido and Chatr and it's working like a charm. I have asked the person and he said Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 will work fine as well. I am not sure about other mobile phones. The plan that i buy is for unlimited talking across Canada, 1GB of Data. And it cost me about $50 per month. More plans listed below.

I am not sue everyone is aware about that but if you have a Child then please register at nearest center. So, you will get $500 Child Tax benefit every month. It will take about 2-3 months but money will be credited directly to your account. But once you get the job, amount will be decrease as well.

In ur case, the category would be "Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner"...
Arkscan Thanks for sharing your wonderful experiencearkscan said:Hey rahul,
It was too useful ....plus felt good to finally meet some of the friends in the forum like sk, archana_ramar, webdev, etc....
Difficult to describe the session actually...they give info abt the diff. provinces of canada and their job prospects, then perspectives abt 'Canadian' work-ex- how to bridge the gap, Canadian-format resume, info. abt bridging programs/ college studies , and connect u to their Canada-based specific partners for volunteering , mentorship , internship , job preparedness opportunities, and also inform abt Settlement topics, kids' schooling, housing and all....One day is for an Overall presentation and another day they prepare a Personalized Action Plan containing all the info and links for each person....we just had that 2nd session today, we r yet to get our own Action sheets..At the end, u get a Participation Certificate
It was an eye-opener..many things i didn't know...a little scary actually, how much prep is required....Recommend everybody to attend it...
Yes u can open scotiabank account, do a SWIFT transfer and get a bank account statement that you can use for POF...keep in mind, the process will take at least 30 days from start to finish so start early....You can begin the Application process online in case scotiabank is not in ur city.....I'm not doing it bcos I'm not sure of which branch I want to open the a/c in (you have to specify the canadian branch where u will go after u land and activate the account)...
Dear MDVMDV said:BEST MODE TO CARRY MONEY IS BANK TRANSFER as it is the safest .You just need to visit next day to activate account .
When you open account you will need to carry swift reciept for outward remittance plus banks confirmation that your funds in canada have arrived .
Dear RDPDRDPD said:Hi friends,
Just wanted to know....are there ppl who have got PPRs after they got DM in this May.
According to what I observe, there is no one who's got PPR if they got DM (before receiving PPR) in the month of May.
Same has happened with me as well. DM on May 15th...but no clue of PPR.
Guys pls say I am wrong. Hope it is not so and we all receive our share of happiness soon.

Dear arkscan Thank you soooo mucharkscan said:You have already passed the MR stage, that means ur eligibility check is satisfied.....The original reference letter (with the old experience) that you submitted has been used to satisfy the eligibility check...So this means u will not be asked to submit a ref. letter containing job duties again...Since ur past the MR stage, this also means that ur BGC has also been 99% completed..At this stage, the only things pending are Security and Criminality Check and Final review...
I suggest, since you have already waited this long, wait till the end of ur probation period until u become a full-time employee, then if u get a letter from ur new co., raise a CSE and attach that letter in a CSE informing them of ur new employment...this is not going to affect ur file in any way...
