Hey All,

Please forgive me if there is another thread dedicated to this or if this has been discussed before. Just point me in that direction.
For people who have been through this:
Ques 1: Which is the best method to carry or transfer funds to Canada?
Ques 2: What is the limit of funds we can transfer?
Ques 3: Has anyone opened an account with Scotia Bank from India and how did that go? Pls share your experience and your advise. Also which is better, opening online vs. at the India branch. Any pros and cons to consider?

A1: It depends, there are options such as TransferWise online but they aren't safe so not advisable for large amount of funds. Banks are usually expensive, you'd need to google around to find out an online broker that is regulated / covered so that your money is safe
A2: You can transfer AS MUCH AS you like, there is no legal limit. Of course for amounts larger than certain limit, you might have to provide additional documents to prove that it's really your money and earned legally by paying taxes, by providing details of source of money!
A3: Don't know, best check their website. Give them a call, I'm sure they'll be happy to help you.

I'm not sure but I believe it is only illegal to send Indian Passports in/out of India.... Double-check this once with a person of authority...

Try to contact both CPP-Ottawa and NYVO once and see how they respond....See this post for example->

Got my stamped passport back from NY Today. I sent my passport on 1st Apr and got it back within 10 days from NY Consulate.

Just want it share information with people. May be it will help somebody:

My original office was New Delhi. As I am in US, I sent a case specific request to NDVO AND NYVO sseparately that I want to get my visa stamped in New York. New Delhi office has not replied till date but NY OFFICE REPLIED WITHIN a week and asked me to submit the passport to their office.

After that I got passport stamped in another 10 days.

So it makes me think my case specific query to New York office worked.

So, I finally did my landing. I only went for a week, but the process was very smooth.

* In the airport I asked in every step of the way about the process and the staff was very friendly. The process in immigration was very quick and they did not complain in any way because I was there for only a week.
* As advised by them, I processed my SIN number. It got me by surprise that they asked for my parents names.

A couple of questions...

* When I check my application online status, it says that I did my landing, but I cannot find the CA address I provided anywhere.
* My mother's name in the SIN application is wrong (by one letter). Is this a big problem? I guess I will fix it once I get back, or is there a way to fix it from AU?

Did you inform them (immigration officials) that you are going to stay there for a week only and then returning back. If No, did you book return tickets or one-way tickets?

I received a request of biodata pages passport copies and i emailed to vo.
After 6 weeks i received the ppr along with the chart and request for 2 photos for each one of us

I submitted them 2 weeks ago and voila received passports with visas and copr today

Hey everyone,

Has anyone faced the following situation:

The VO asked for passports that are valid for at least 12 months
your passport is valid for less than 12 months but more than 9 months
you explained to them that it is impossible to renew your passport, due to certain conditions imposed by your country of origin
What was VO's response, or what do seniors think might be their response?

Would the VO ask us to send the pp's anyways?
