I have been in Canada since June 2008 and am on my second two-year work permit. I am a British citizen and need to go to Australia in September for two weeks due to a family wedding.

On my work permit it says in big letters that it's not a re-entry visa. How do I apply for a re-entry visa? I've been to the CIC website but kept landing on forms and information that had nothing to do with re-entry.

Does anyone know if I can apply before I leave Canada or do I have to do it from outside the country?

But you don't need a visa to enter Canada being a British Citizen. You can probably call CIC and ask if you need to apply for one. If you do you have to send your application to either Buffalo or Seattle.

Well, that never occurred to me.

But now that you mention it, when I first came to Canada in 2004 I didn't have a visa, just my British passport. But then I left after 6 weeks, went back to Britain etc etc etc before coming here on a working visa.

Thanks for the info!

Oh so you do have a working visa stamped on your passport. Check if it is still valid and it is multiple.

no, you do don't need to worry. with valid work permit and visa..youre good to enter canada again. but don't forget to get OEC before returning here. enjoy ur vacation kabayan!

I am spending my vacation in the Philippines and will go back to my employer after one month. Do I have to go through POEA processing all over again?

No, you need not go through the whole process again. Your employer and employment contract were already verified. As a returning overseas Filipino worker or balik-manggagawa, all you have to do is secure an overseas employment certificate (OEC) at the POEA Balik-Manggagawa Processing Division, regional centers and satellite offices and some Philippine Overseas Labor Offices to enable you to leave the country again and avail of the same privileges such as exemption from travel tax and airport terminal fee.

salamat sa info....ano ang requirements sa pagkuha ng OEC? my bayad b yon?? gaano katagal ung proseso??? salamat ulit :)

just bring along with you your passport stamped with your valid work permit and visa. if you have a letter from your employer stating that youre going back to canada to resume employment with them, bring it with you, just in case they ask for one. You need to pay, P2,200 at at least. You can get the cerficate the same day. Good luck!

hi sis thank you again for the help... ang mahal din pala ng bayad... by the way saan ka sa canada?
