Looking at ways to boost my score.

I can't speak a word of French but I'm willing to get a tutor and give it a go.

However I can't see how many extra points I get for it as a second language and if my wife can also do that do I get points for her?

It's 6am here so my brain isn't in full gear yet :)

I have been slowly studying French with duolingo and youtube videos in spare moments (mostly while commuting on the train), but I haven't had much time to devote to this. I now am focusing my efforts on preparing my OINP application and my job search because I have a much better chance of getting OINP and 600 points in a shorter period of time than learning enough French to get a few extra points (and by that time my next birthday might come along and more than wipe out any additional points I could get for basic French).

I downloaded Duolingo in my daughter's iPad and I was amazed she can pick up easily than I do! She can pronounce the words like a native French! :D Well, the mom is stubborn and lazy! o_O

If you could delegate your daughter to study French full time and take the TEF exam for you, then you'd be all set with additional points! ;)

Yes OINP is my first goal but I'm worried it will close before I get my POF which I can't get until the end of August at the earliest.

So looking at alternatives

I was thinking of this too. I took French in high school, so I know the basics.

The maximum you can boost your score is by 24 points. It is 6 points maximum per section (readings, writing, listening speaking). Knowing my level of French? I think the most I can hope for is 4 in total.
