Can someone please explain me how the Tie Breaker is 9th May 2019?

Listed below are the draw date / cut-off / Tie Breaker date:
20th Aug 2019 / 457 / March 24th
04th Sept 2019 / 463 / Aug 23rd
18th Sept 2019 / 462 / Aug 29th
02nd Oct 2019 / 464 / Sept 20th
30th Oct 2019 / 475 / Aug 29th
13th Nov 2019 / 472 / Oct 08th
27th Nov 2019 / 471 / Nov 11th
11th Dec 2019 / 472 / Dec 06th
and so forth (as all draws were higher than 471)

Don't you guys think, the addition of 471 should be only from 11th November onward and chances of getting 471 in May should have been nearly negligible, as they all must have been cleared in all previous draws listed?

Another thing fishy is the amount of candidates increasing in 451-600 category has been exponential from 4232 (on 05th July 2019) to 15917 (on 11th December) while for 441-450 have been at 7319 (on 05th July 2019) to 9135 (on 11th December).

I feel there are many fake profiles created for high scores and they are just rejecting ITA's.

They should introduce an application fee to enter the pool

Maybe he was studying and created a profile right after his degree.
I came to Canada 7 years ago, finished 4 years of university and gained 2.5 years of work experience(only 2 counts).

Reasons why the tie-breaker was May 9 2019:

  1. There was a huge influx of students going to Canada 2014 onwards. These have now graduated and obtained Post Study Work Permits. Their Canadian education and work experience are fetching higher points to add to CRS. Even if they had created a profile last year, completing an additional year of work in Canada could have fetched then an additional 25 points on their CRS.
  2. The number of PNPs issued last year has been higher than the year before. These applicants have started to get points awarded towards their CRS recently.
  3. More awareness of the Canadian Immigration system amongst the educated and skilled youth have increased the inflow 450+

If you look compare the table published today vs the one published on Jan 8 2020, you will see that the number of applicants in pool between the score of 400 -450 has dropped. The highest probability relates to point 1 and point 2 explained above.


Based on these reasons it is possible that the trend may continue.

I do not intend to demotivate anyone and I really wish that the CRS cut- offs drops in the coming draws.

Congratulations to those who got their ITAs. To the rest, wishing and hoping it works in your favour.

Got my ITA sent today. For the residency part, does it include past 10 years from today which would mean 22/01/2010 or from my 18th birthday. I filled everything in to 2010/01 but it still does not say Personal Details completed.

Same here. I have gone back till 2005 and still, it says it is incomplete and I should include the past 10 years' activity. :/

I feel ya. I am 25, so I guess for me the statement "from 18th birthday" applies. But damn, during my University years I moved like 7 times and now how to search for those addresses.
And work too.. Have to contact my previous employers for a letter.

Yeap so I figured out you can't leave out even a month. My history is super basic: Uni ⇢ Job ⇢ Job ⇢ Job and covers the last 13 years. I already have the letters since I used them to get the WP. never thought id be happy to say I have no travel history, Canada being the only country other than my home country that I have ever been to.

Guys I think I might have found myself an opening in the Express Entry requirements, this applied to anyone working in Canada on an Intra Company transfer.

According to CIC website,

Your employer doesn’t need an LMIA to support your job offer if:
  1. you have been working full-time for the employer on your work permit for at least 1 year (or an equal amount of part-time work)
  2. you have a valid job offer, and
  3. you have a valid work permit that is exempt from an LMIA under:
    • an international agreement
    • a federal-provincial agreement
    • the “Canadian interests” category
so I have been working full-time for my employer for 1 year, so that checks item (1). And I have a valid work permit that is exempt from an LMIA under “Canadian interests” as defined in Canadian interest section on the same page, see below:

workers transferred within a company (intra-company transferees with specialized knowledge) – only those that will benefit Canada with their skills and experience

I was transferred within the company under intra-company transfer LMIA exempted work permit, so that would check item (3).

On Item (2), I have received a job offer from my company at the time of transfer, that was a year and a half, I hope this would check item (2).

Does anyone know if the above is possible or am I being too optimistic? Do you think there’s any risk or anything I have mis-interpreted?

Your input is highly appreciated.
