That would be calender days. The delay in this case would have been caused by christmas in december as well.

True. At some other websites I have seen that they can take anywhere from 15 to 45 working days to process TRV...not sure if someone really gets a TRV within 3 weeks - if anyone did get one within 3 weeks please share. thanks.

They don't ask you anything from my personal experience when I traveled on TRV before to visit my wife in Canada, but others have reported, the CBAS officers have asked the following questions:

How long will you be staying in Canada
Who are you visiting
Who is coming to pick you up from the airport
How many checked-in bags - any gifts worth $2000 or more
Purpose of your stay in canada.
Which city will you be mainly located in..

Be prepared for these types of questions. Others are welcome to add more to this list.....

The main thing is to look confident when you appear at the immigration desk- they are good at face reading

The only way to get it in 3 weeks would be to own a company worth a few million. It is the poor man who gets scrutinized.

Hello Guys,

I am so happy I found this thread, i thought that visit visa's for a sponsored wife were virtually impossible to obtain.
Here is my situation:

I am a canadian citizen.
I got married in January and finished/sent in my spouse sponsorship application in Mid Feb from the ISB office.
There is a 10 year age gap between me and my wife, she is 17 and resides in Pakistan.
I wish for her to visit me during the summer vacations because I do not have any vacation days left.
I can obtain letters from her school showing that she needs to be back after the summer vacations.
I can get a job letter with my salary which is more than enough to show financial support.
I can get health insurance for her during her stay here in Canada.

What other documents do I have to show?
Should I purchase a return ticket to show that I am serious and she will go back?
Since my wife is so young, and did not have a bank account until recently, should I show the bank account of her parents?
What are the chances that this application can be successful, after reading my particular situation?
I have been talking to lawyers who are willing to take my case for $1200-$2500 depending on the lawyer, with no gaurantee of approval.
Should I go through a lawyer in this case, or should I do it myself?

Please advise.
I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks

@Omeirk: you are right....lots of politics and money involved.

@theshaikh you need to submit everything they ask of an applicant for TRV. The details you can find on the cic website. You will need to get the letter from her school like you said you can. Her parents bankstatement in Pakistan...Family ties in he country shouldn't be a problem.. the only reason I can see them denying is lack of travel history ..has she been outside Pakistan before ?you will also need to write a letter explaining why you want your wife to visit also since she's 17 her parents will have to write a consent form granting permission to her her to travel abroad...these are somethings

Above mentioned are some of the things i can think about at the moment.Generally they never base their decision on the fact that she has been sponsored by you although its good to let them know when you write a letter explaining why your wife is visiting you. They solely base their decision on how the case is looking like from a TRV prospective

Hey Shanaz75

Thanks for the response. No she has not travelled outside of pk before but we are planning our honeymoon to Dubai in April. Do you think it's wise for me to wait till after our trip to apply?
If I apply by the end of April, that would shrink my window of the visit time to just end of August.
Should I apply now and if I get rejected based on lack of travel history apply again?

Also what sort of money does she have to show in her parents bank acct?

Thanks alot

Also, I dont know a definitive answer to this.
Is it smart to book a return ticket and attach it with the application?
Just to show the seriousness of returning home?
