Questions regarding new FSW process

Hi all,

I took a look at many posts in the forum and it seems that after the initial submission to Sydney for FSW, it takes about 45 days to 2 months to receive an reply from CIC. My first question is will that reply from CIC actually tell you that your case is recommended for further assessment and ask you to submit all the documents to the visa office responsible for your country/region? If this is not the case and that reply only tells you something like we have received you application, how long does it take to actually receive a reply from CIC to submit the documents to the visa office? I understand that after we receive the letter to ask us to submit the documents, we only have 120 days to do it, so I want to clarify it here.

My second question is that when submitting the documents to prove your education, do we have to include the degree certificate? I expect to finish my master degree before this December, but I will not receive my degree certificate until next June since convocation only held twice a year, November and June, in my university. Thus, if I am required to submit all the documents by March, I will have my transcript and a letter from the university to prove that I have finish all the requirement for the master degree, but I will not have the degree certificate at that time. So, is it OK to leave the degree certificate out?

Thank you.

The letter or email from cic will tell you to submit the documents to the visa office and you hae 120days from the date of the letter/email to submit the documents.

They expect you to submit the degree certificate but if you don't have that perhaps you can submit a letter from the university. Someone else should answer whether that is okay. I would think that is okay but i am not 100% sure. But make sure you get your letter and transcript before the 120days are up, else they won't extend the 120 days (from what I read in this forum).

yes rupeshhari is right, you can take the course completion letter from the university. For 120 days you should have everything ready like police certificates and birth certificates as i read in this forum that both these certificates takes much time. I applied for PCC from malaysia and it took me three months to get that. You should prepare all docments in advance so as to save your time. Are you the main applicant under which NOC you will apply..?

Thanks for the reply. I am the principle applicant and under the NOC 2281 Computer Network Technicians. I am studying in Canada and I have been in Canada for almost 8 years since I do my undergrad and graduate studies here. Does it make any differences if people apply within Canada or outside Canada now? Thanks.

no i dont think so. you should also look at CEC. you might qualify for that too but don't know which is quicker.

CEC may not work for me since I gain my work experience while I am working on my master, not after graduate, although I gained the experience after I received my bachelor degree. So, I guess this is a grey area.
