My brother-in-law is married to a South Korean citizen and they applied for PR via the inland route in January 2017.

They both live in Canada together.

I am quite knowledgeable on the outland process as I was sponsored by my wife via outland, but not so much on the inland process.

They have just received the work permit but they have questions about first stage approval. It is my understanding that first stage approval in inland is basically the whole process? As once that has been approved the end is within a month, is that correct?

Basically, what is the timeline for inland processing if they applied in January 201?

It might be a bit different from your experience since the IRCC switched to a simplified application kit. Timeline is forecasted by the IRCC to be within 12 months of acknowledgement of receipt for inland with the new kit.

After the AOR, they'll get a notice asking for a police check for the principal applicant, the schedule A form and a request for medical. So far only a few members have had the request for Schedule A/PCC and medical requests. No one has received a DM or AIP as of yet.
