Question about importing my car

Hi there, I am currently seeking information on importing my car from the US. I am a permanent resident of Canada and a US citizen. Can someone please tell me if I have this process lined out correctly?
1. Fax in a copy of the vehicle title to the U.S. border crossing where I intend to cross.
2. Drive to U.S. border crossing and identify myself with my passport and licence. The officers will check the information. They will then release the title to Canada Customs.
3. Drive to Canada Customs and identify myself with my passport and licence. Inform the officers I am importing my car and fill out the Vehicle Import Form 1 (it will be provided).
4. I will now pay the $195+GST RIV fee, $100 A/C tax (if the car has A/C), duty (if so required) and possibly the aforementioned emissions tax. I will also pay the 5% GST (QST in Quebec, GST portion of HST in Ontario and British Columbia).
5. Customs will release my Form 1.
6. Drive home!
7. Within 10 days of submitting my Form 1 Canada Customs will mail me the Form 2 – Federal Inspection.
8. I have 45 days from the day I submitted to get any required modifications done to my vehicle (common items include metric speedometer updates/display, daytime running lights, child tether anchorage) and have my vehicle inspected at Canadian Tire.
9. At the inspection I am to have all of the documentation I've accumulated. The Forms 1 and 2, letter of recall, title, bill of sale are all required (correct?)
(Also, the inspection is included in the RIV fee I paid at the border (correct?)
10. Take the paperwork to the provincial licencing office and register my car. I will pay provincial tax at this point. I will also hand in my current US plates and drivers license at this point (correct?)

If anyone can answer the questions where I've asked "correct?" I would appreciate it. I would also greatly appreciate if anyone can tell me if this entire outline is correct or if I am missing something.

Also, I don't have a bill of sale. My mother gave me this car (free of charge, what a loving mother) back in 2013. So what do I do if I don't have a bill of sale? Also just to make sure the only documents I need to have at the border are the title, registration, and bill of sale (what do I need to have in place of this?)?

Thank you in advance for any help on this issue.

Forgot to mention that I am aware that the copy of my vehicle title needs to be faxed in 72 hours ahead of time. Do I just fax the title alone and nothing else, or some kind of cover letter with it?
