Question About Current Country of Residence Question

On the Generic Application it asks (Question 10) Current Country of Residence, Status, and Date (From - To)

I'm currently in Canada under the status of a temporary worker, but I have been living in Canada since May 2013 under different statuses (student, visitor, etc) and have not moved elsewhere during that time. Should I put the date of the beginning of my status of a worker, or should I put the date of when I started living in Canada? Also, should the end date be the end date of my work permit, or should the end date (the "to" date, if you will) be the "present day?"

Also (different question, unreleated)

Does my sponsor have to fill out the "additional family information" form as well? It says it needs to be fill out by all applicants (if applicable) and that is confusing me, because the way the form works is it asks for "applicant" "sponsor" "mother" "father" so I don't think he could fill it out bc he's *not* the applicant... It's confusing the way the instructions are worded.

I would detail all your time in Canada (from when you arrived) and what status you had during each time period. eg. visitor from x to x, temporary worker from x to now etc. If you just put the date you became a worker and don't detail what you were under before you will have gaps in your timeline.

Hey there, thanks for the reply. I am not talking about my "Schedule A -- Background Declaration Form IM5669" that gives you ample room to give your history, I am talking about the "Generic Application Form Canada IM0008" where there is a drop-down choice for one current status, date, and country. That is why it is so confusing.

Oh I see what you mean, given you have already detailed your history I would just put your current status, the rest of the info they can get from IM5669.

And what date? From when I moved to Canada until when my work permit expires, or just how long I've been under a worker status (which is less than a year, only since September).

from the date your entered canada and never left. it doesn't matter what your status was. they just wnt to know how long you've been living in the country you are currently living. when you enetered canada, were your intentions to "live" for a specific amount of time? if so, then you need to put THAT date. if you entered as a visitor, and didn't have the intention of staying long term, then that wouldn't be the date your residence became canada. if you spent part of your time as a visitor and it was AFTER you entered with the intention to study or work here, then for this question, it doesn't matter if your status changed to visitor at some point since you've been here.

I put the date I last entered Canada literally as the last date I came back from the US last, Jan 12th, 2015. I went back for a few days to visit family. Is that not the date I put as my "last entry into Canada"? I came here to "live" as a visitor on December 30th, 2013. I'm a bit confused now.

at this point it doesn't matter, you submitted your application. i doubt CIC is going to scrutinize your dates that much. if they need clarification about something, they will ask for it. everything in the application is subjective, so you can't base what's "wrong" in your application based on what others write in theirs.

I haven't submitted yet, so I wanted to make sure I gave the CIC the answer they were asking for. I'm hoping to have it all ready to go by early next week.
