Good day to all friends and forum mates!

Got a question need your lights.
I am assisting a family to do their apps. The mother is Canadian born and the three children although born outside Canada have taken Canadian citizenship already. They are in process in sponsoring the Husband/Father. They all live in Europe in a visa exempt country!
As i said I have been assisting them but because I did not have to declare children on mine i do not know.
In which forms do they declare (if at all) the children?

Thank you in advance for your answers!

We put our kids on every form, just to make sure. The language gets confusing because some of it is trying to accomodate situations where the applicant has children that are not the sponsor's.

When you say the kids have "taken" Canadian citizenship, have they gotten citizenship certificates and passports? (If so, they're way more organized than we were, LOL!)

If they are already citizens and will not be sponsored they do not get included in the actual application for sponsorship. They will be listed on the additional dependents form though. That is only to make sure that no child is missed so to speak. If a child/minor is not included as accompanying they still need to do medicals and such or will never be able to be sponsored. If they already have Passports and all other papers then they are good to go.

I am sure someone with more detailed answer will come along. (sweden) lol

The "Additional Dependants" form is filled out if you have more than 5 dependants to declare in the application form. The application form itself says not to list dependants who are already Canadian citizens or permanent residents. However, everybody should be listed in the "Additional Family Information" form, regardless of status. I think this is the only place.

IMM5406, Additional Family Information, is the only place where the Canadian children should be mentioned in the applicant's forms.

However, because the children are financial dependents of the sponsor, she must also include them in IMM5481, Sponsorship Evaluation, question 6)b.

Good point. As Quebec applicants, we didn't have to submit that form.

Thanking you all for the very valuable info

God bless you!
