Question about being away from Canada

Hi all,

My parents landed in Sept 2010 through sponsorship, but now I (a citizen) have leave Canada to work in another country for 3 to 4 years. Will my parents be exempt from the PR obligation if they accompany me on this extended trip?

No - they won't be exempt. The exemption only applies to individuals who are accompanying their spouses - or children accompanying parents (not the other way around).

Your parents will have to meet the "2 year out of 5 years living in Canada" rule in order to retain their PR status.
