Hi All,

Question specific to obtaining Indian PCC from a consulate/embassy in the US.
Did you have to fill out a 'Personal Particulars' form? Some members are seeing that form as a new addition on the Chicago consulate website. It seems to be something new, and not present when I got my PCC from there last year?

Wondering what your experience was.

Hi All,
I received ITA in Jan and applied in person for Indian PCC in Chicago by end of Jan 2018. Its been 2 months and I haven't received. My passport is issued in Bangalore. When I called Chicago they are saying that Bangalore RPO is waiting for the police station. Police verification was completed mid Feb at my place and my parents checked with police station and commissioners office. Both the records indicate they have given clearance and sent to RPO. RPO only sees people with appointment so my parents not able to check the status with them. Sent an email to Bangalore RPO and there is no response. Chicago consulate tells me that they have sent reminder to Bangalore RPO 3 times and they say it is stuck at police verification. Don't know how to proceed. 14 days remaining to submit my PR application. Anybody in this situation and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. Like a lot of you i am Indian citizen living in the US.
When we get ITA, for the Police verification, just the PCC from the Indian consulate is enough right? No need for the the FBI route right?
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Also, has anyone recently obtained PCC from Indian consulate San Francisco? How long does it take.
Truly appreciate your response.

Thanks and Regards,
Divya Naveenan

Technically, you need a PCC from every country where you have lived for more than 6 months in the past 10 yrs. If you have not yet been in the US for more than 6 months, and you know for sure that you would not be in the US for more than six months, then I would suggest the best course may be to not apply for PR while in the US.

But if you have been in the US for more than 6 months, then a US FBI PCC will be required.

ADD: This also means that if there is any other country, where you have spent more than 6 months, you would need to find out how to get the PCC for that country as well.

ADD2: The 6 month rule for PCC has also gone some modifications recently. I believe, earlier it used to be that the 6 months need not have been continuous, instead counted cumulatively, i.e. if you were in Japan one month every year for the past 10 years, then cumulatively you had spent 10 months in Japan and thus need a Japan PCC. However, the recent updates to the process have something about the 6 months needing to be continuous. I am not 100% certain what those changes are, would look to other members in the forum to be more precise on this.

ADD3: Another recent change (also good news) is that FBI PCC request can now be submitted electronically and do not take a long time. I have not gone through the electronic process so can't say based on personal experience. (Earlier, PCC requests had to be mailed in and took 3-4 months to come back).

Did you get your PCC?

I applied for PCC in Atlanta embassy in 12/28 and still waiting for it. And, I'm pretty close to my deadline :-(
I was calling the embassy and mailing them, no response whatsoever..

Hi Any updates on your case? Did you contact anyone in India to help in faster processing?

Hey Guys,

My PCC request documents reached SF consulate on 03/08 but have not heard from them since.

What is the current time line at SF Consulate and if I want to contact regarding the status of my application is there a contact center number?
Did you hear back from the consulate? and if yes, how long did it take?

Hi All,

I am going to apply for PCC in NY Indian embassy next week. I have two doubts
1) Do I need to get my documents notarised from somewhere else or embassy will notarised it if I present all original documents along with photocopies
2) PCC issued by Indin embassy is valid till what period?

Mayura
