Hey All,

Recently I noticed a few persons posting about letters on intention to reject because of tax contributions etc. Mr. Campbell Cohen in his most recent newsletter addressed this concern when someone asked what they should do because they have received such a letter. Read the following:

Person:

I have presented my document to Quebec immigration. After that, they sent me a letter saying that I must submit ‘Proof of your social security contributions or proof of exemption from payment of social security premiums. If you cannot provide proof of social security contributions or proof of exemption from payment of social security premiums, you must provide proof of payment of income tax.’
I am living in UAE and in this country I cannot have this proof, because we do not pay such taxes here. What should I do?

Mr. Campbell Cohen:

Candidates for Canadian immigration may be unable to provide proof of income tax records for the very reason you have outlined. Please note, however, that the letter from the government of Quebec first asks for proof of social security contributions or proof of exemption from payment of social security premiums. Only if a candidate cannot provide one or the other is he or she asked to provide proof of payment of income tax. As such, candidates in this situation should first try to provide either proof of or exemption from such contributions. Proof of exemption should be issued by a government authority, such as an Embassy.

Hello every one,

I just calculated my points total as 55 with spouse

Education = 12
Training = 12
experience = 6
age = 16
IELTS = 4
Spouse = 4
Finance = 1

total = 55

two points are short, can I apply saying as wife is not accompanying me (as in express entry) then it would make me eligible to apply for QUEBEC??? as single applicant needs to have 47 points and mine are 51 (as single)....

Please update..

Hi Adil

A little correction. Single applicants need 49 points and couples requires 57.

If you desire to apply alone and later your spouse, I can see this will be a long process for you. Surely your spouse have more credentials that can give him/her more than four (4) points as per your calculations. Think about their credentials in detail and recalculate your points (chances are you may have more) than you first estimated.

However, if this is not the case, you can gain additional points from the following - a) kids (less than 21yrs will be 8 points) , b) stay in Quebec (A stay of 2 weeks and more is one point, a stay of 3 months and more is 2 points), or c) French (this may be hardest task because you will need a minimum of B2 - high intermediate-advance)...

I am waiting the mail to deliver my passport with my visa stamped to my house within these couple days ;D :D ;)

No. You would not be considered as single if you have a wife, accompanying or not. You MUST declare your marriage at both Qc & Federal level. You will have the choice once through to the federal (CIC) application to say whether your wife is accompanying you or not.

I have also received CSQ today by regular post, date of issuing 20-08-2015. Bonne chance a tous!

United States Legality of professional experience

I am completely stuck on this I have no clue what document they want or how to obtain this.

The only things I can think of that do this are all on the not accepted list:

W-2 I thought was the most obvious but is issued by the employer and therefore not accepted
Tax returns - not accepted
Acknowledgements of receipt tax returns - not accepted

Does anyone know what form in the US this refers to or how to obtain it?

Proof of legalty of your work experience This must consist of proof of social security contributions or proof of payment of income tax. If you cannot provide one of these elements of proof, you must provide proof of exemption from payment of social security premiums or proof of exemption from payment of income tax issued by a government authority (who is not your employer).

Important clarifications on the proof of legality: Regardless of the sector in which you work (private, public, parapublic, etc.), you must present proof of legality of your work experience. All documents attesting to the legality of your work experience must be issued by a government authority. The documents issued by your employer or an accountant are not accepted. The notice of assessment of income tax is an official document issued by tax authorities that confirms receipt of the income tax return and the assessment of submitted information.

Here are some examples of documents that are not accepted as proof of legality:
– income tax returns
– acknowledgements of receipt of income tax returns
– registration cards with a social security agency
– tax registration cards
– pay slips
