Definitely I know this thing. Within 3.5 years that US food did a severe damage to my stomach even though I always tried to eat very healthyI had to live in a dorm with no kithen and I only ate in the cafeteria nearby. There was no other option. So now I eat only homemade food and eating out for me should be very moderate. No buffalo chicken with a ranch anymore
You know when you live on your own and have to spend day and night working in the lab and teaching/studying simultaneously everybody will sooner or later got a problem with this.
You need just to be born there and got accustomed to that daily doses of cokes, fries and burgers. Otherwise, if you're foreigner than you're in trouble. And it's better to settle within a community from your region. There you can find "native stores" with your "recognizable" foodI wish I lived in NY Brighton Beach. Once I visited it, felt kinda at home
