My first post as a Quebecois
Hello guys, I landed last month and I wanted to share some experiences I have had so far, like the title of the thread entitles.
First of all, because of complications with the Airline back in my country, they were broke and went out of business two days before my flight in, I had to buy another ticked and land first in Toronto, everything went as I have read here in the forum, Thank you guys by the way. after my transfer finally I arrived to Pierre Eliot Trudeau Airport, I remembered I was supposed to be greeted my an immigration officer if I were with the original plan, but because of the last minute change, I arrived from a local flight and I never had the chance to "see" this counter, so I went all the way down to the other side of the airport looking for this office, it was hard to be hones to find but finally I got to right place and you have to go to a corner where there are two or three phones in the corridor and there is a business list where you will see "Immigration Quebec", dial XXX, so I did and a kind lady answered me, and ask me to wait for her exactly there, she was coming from somewhere else where her office was located, minutes later, she arrived and welcome me, gave me a book, some other useful papers and informed me I had an appointment settled already for the welcome/introduction meeting some days later in some address.
I went to this meeting days later and the lady who received me, was extraordinarily kind to me, explained everything to me, gave several addresses, phones and all sort of information I was going to need (among those, whre to get the SIN (NAS in french), when will arrive my PRC, where to get the driver license, where to get a course for adapting to quebec work, where to continue my french classes, where to get the card for illness [carte de maladie], etc), and to be very honest, from 1.5 hours the meeting last in french, her french was superb, she was speaking to me like if were my maternal language, wow she was inspiring and kind.
Now day, I have received my SIN, I have my driver license and I have not received yet my PRC, I hope it arrives very soon, I am still excited to receive it
Now, what I have noticed, everything is clean, in order, there is no public transport after 00:00, but the transport network is incredible, really guys, in google there is a part where you put two addresses, click on bus route, and it will give EXACTLY the time the bus will pass, stop, pick you up, once you are in a metro station, at what time exactly the metro will pass, and how long it will take to go from station A to station B, it is just amazing, the gasoline for the cars is very very very expensive, the city is big, and it is hot and humid, nothing I was expecting
I am running away from this weather from my country and I came to find very similar weather.
now if you have any question, please let me know I will gladly try to answer, I only have 3 weeks here, but I have now some real knowledge of how it is here in Montreal, Quebec Canada
