Hi everyone,
I had asked a couple of questions before but did not get any response from anyone, :( .. However, I had my interview yesterday at NYC and I got the CSQ ( I did not get it, he said he has computer problems and will mail it to me) but still he said I will get the CSQ in a few days time. So, I would like to thank all fo you specially egrace62, Stillhope, quebec2011 and all of you who have been actively participating and helping each other out. I used to read this forum everyday and would get tips and tricks for the interview without which I would never have been successful to clear it, given that the only french I spoke in interview was "My name is ..... and I speak a little French"...Thank you all.. :)

The diploma or degree must have been obtained in the five years previous to applying for Quebec immigration. If this is not the case, the applicant must have worked for at least one year out of the five years in a field directly related to the diploma or degree obtained.

Hi mazhar,
My interview was at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. It was scheduled at 3:30 P.M, however I got there early as I was flying from texas the same day and coming back the same day. The interviewer was an young gentleman. He said Bonjour and asked me to have a seat ( in french, I did not understand but figured that as he pointed to the chair). I told him, Je parle un peu de français." So, he asked me if I would like my interview to be conducted in English, I said yes. He started looking into my file and started asking me questions. Following are the questions he asked me:
Why did you come to USA to study?
Why did you chose Aerospace Engineering your major?
He also asked me about my work experience.
He then asked me why I wanted to move to Quebec and not to Toronto or any other cities in Canada if jobs are available there also.
He then asked me a few questions in French, I was only able to answer one,, later on when he translated those questions into English, I answered those in French.
He asked me about the companies that will hire me in Quebec, I had printed out my research on that and also some job postings I found using emploiquebec..
Thats about it, he said I just passed it but my French level is very low and I need to work hard on it.
All in all, it was 95% in English and 5 % in French...So, try to convince the interviewer that you will learn French and are learning now by trying to speak French.
I had 51 points declared before the interview of which 2 is in French but I think he reduced those 2 points and gave me points based on my responses in the interview. It was 1 hr and 15 mins long.

My only advice for you is to be truthful, honest and confidence as thats what will impress the interviewer.

Hope this helps

This was encouraging and useful, appreciated.

But as your of training is highly demanded in Quebec that could be a reason that he didn't take french very seriously otherwise I have seen many others who had enough points to qualify but they had poor french and they were not able to convince the interviewer, and the interviewer had asked them to come next year for another interview.

But anyways I am happy that you could make it and wish all the best.

Thanks

Dear sibakoti

thanks very much it is really a greate help;

I would like to draw attention to all those waiting for CSQ that, once i talked to a very famous consultant in Monteal and he told me that if your points are enough and you declare zero french or basic french then, the interveiw will be arount 80-90% in english and small portion will be in french. I told him that on canadavisa.com forum people posted their experience that it will be mostly in french and lower french knowledge will not work.

He said people write what they like to write, i being a consultant tells you that if you dont declare a higher french knowledge and dont claim or include your frenech points in your file then your interview will be in english. The interveiw only wants to see how much one is interested to reside in Quebec and how much he is useful in quebec society. This is what the interviewee has to prove.

Hey stil,
Just a simple question,in the list(bible of Quebec immigration)there is nothing said about degrees obtained in the UK,so how do they compare your education to the Quebec one, secondly in one of your blog you said in the interview they asked you,if you have any management experience,is it any management or just business management.
Thanks in advance and good luck for the fed application

Abmir

Hello everybody, please excuse my persistence...

Looking through various forums and the websites, this is where I think I am. Still Hope and others, could you please review this and confirm/contradict.

If I apply as the principal applicant and my wife as the co-applicant - Total 53 points? Am I missing out anything?

Education (B.Sc. 2001 India) - 6 points
Work experience (9 years) - 8 points
Age (31) - 16 points
Language proficiency - French (will clear DELF A2) - 3+3 points
Language proficiency - English (Advanced) - 3+3 points
Financial self sufficiency - 1 point
Spouse Education: MCA (2002) - 3 points
Spouse Age (30) - 3 points
Spouse French - None - 0 points
Child - 4 points

If my wife applies as the principal applicant and I as the co-applicant - Total 58? Am I missing out anything?

Education (MCA 2002 India) - 12 points
Work experience (9 years) - 8 points
Age (30) - 16 points
Language proficiency - French - 0 points
Language proficiency - English (Advanced) - 3+3 points
Financial self sufficiency - 1 point
Spouse Education: B.Sc. (2001) - 2 points
Spouse Age (31) - 3 points
Spouse French - DELF A2- 3+3 points
Child - 4 points

Is this the end of the road then, am I calculating it correctly? Suggestions and advice will be heartily welcome...?
