I completely agree with you stillhope...learning French is very essential, not just for interview purpose but for your settlement in Quebec, if thats your intention..Even though my french is not anywhere near basic yet, I would never discourage anyone from learning french.... that is one thing that will impress the person taking the interview...My interviewer said that that the most important factors are : your age, your FRENCH knowledge and your Area of training...I think I was ok on two of those and I showed enough enthusiasm and excitement about Quebec(which is honest as I am really excited abt going there) and also told him my future plans if I do get the CSQ ( like start looking for job in emploiquebec by putting candidancy, start the process to be a member of OIQ by evaluating my degree etc.).. I also printed out some stats about expenses in Toronto and Montreal ..Toronto is expensive as compared to Montreal and I showed him proof of all that... so the interviewer might have felt that if I can learn at least one level more of French, I will be successful in Quebec...and I told him, "I will prove you right!!" He was a very nice guy and I was very confident and felt like I was talking to my friend after first few nervy minutes!!

I have read your post...like I said I have been reading this forum almost daily and I need to thank you a little more as after I read your post, I got the idea of taking all of my researched document to the interview as opposed to just saying that I know it... So, thank you once again, a special thank you... :)

As for French, I have not completed any French tests,,, I just took classes on clickonfrench.com as I work on the weekdays and dont have time to go to real classes... but now I am planning to take one starting next week.... I mentioned A1 level, which is 2 points I think, but I doubt after his assessment of my French, he gave me 2,,, I think he gave me "0" on french and 6/6 on adapatibility ( or 5 and 1 at the best),.. He said I got exactly 55 and that was because my AOT was Aerospace Engineering...

Dear Stillhope

I dont mean that someone should not learn french. Off course you are right that french speak/knowledge will not help in french in interveiw but also it gives points. Why i am concerned with this, because i learnet in Alliance Francaise till level-1 and i am improving at home, though my speaking capability is a bit better than listening but i am scared what if i could not speak fluently. I have even memorized 149 french interveiw questions as well to understand what i am being asked.

there was one french teacher who got quebec PR he scared me with views that even if i have enough point but if dont speak fluently i will not be granted CSQ.

but posting from Sibakoti was an encouraging that i can clear without much knowledge. i am relaxed now even though i have contineud my study in french.

If you dont have anyone to practice French with, I suggest go to google and search "coffee break French itunes"... There are almost 100 different podcasts which teaches you how to speak French.. and best of all its free...

Dear sibakoti

thanks very much it is really a greate help;

I would like to draw attention to all those waiting for CSQ that, once i talked to a very famous consultant in Monteal and he told me that if your points are enough and you declare zero french or basic french then, the interveiw will be arount 80-90% in english and small portion will be in french. I told him that on canadavisa.com forum people posted their experience that it will be mostly in french and lower french knowledge will not work.

He said people write what they like to write, i being a consultant tells you that if you dont declare a higher french knowledge and dont claim or include your frenech points in your file then your interview will be in english. The interveiw only wants to see how much one is interested to reside in Quebec and how much he is useful in quebec society. This is what the interviewee has to prove.

regards

mazhar
dude, i agree with you that whatever level of french the person has opted in form, the interviewer will ask questions in french accordingly. But there is some truth which hides somewhere that without french it's very difficult to adapt Quebec environment. 80% peoples speak french in Quebec. One of my friend told me who is in Quebec that Quebecois prefer to speak in french. If you start talking in English then they will just speak for few minutes in English after that they come to french. Moreover, Without french, person would get a tough time to find a job. Don't take it just for immigration purposes. After all, you have to live there and you must know the native language to communicate well with the localities.

Dear Sibakoti

thats greate idea i shall definately go to the site you mentioned. I appllied from BIQ DAMASCUS and due to unrest in syria all files have been transferred to Montreal so i think it will take more time, that is good in terms of learning french. I am expecting by the end of this year. if I get an interview i shall come back to you guys to take an advice though i have noted all those. I was also planning to take a documents where i could compare toronto vs montreal.

By the way i am also interested to reside in Montreal only, in 2005 i got student visa for montreal for concordia unversity but my employer did not approve my leave to attent the orientation in montreal. so i could not go to montreal at all and visa got expired. i hope my student visa in montreal will also show my seriousness in resding in quebec.

I would request for another advice.
My degree is Master of Computer Science but my experience for last 6 years is as Analyst in Airlines's control center. Now i dont find any job related to my experience in quebec emploi website.what shall i do? the interview might ask me if i had seen any posting of job in quebec market what if i could not any thing? do you think Analyst in differnt IT company posting will work as i have not really worked for IT but for airline where my prim job was airline scheduel loading, and flilght delay handling but a small portion of analysis.

You might want to consider why Montreal as compared to other cities in Quebec... In my case it was easy because I proved to him that 52% of my related jobs are in Montreal so, practically that would be the best place for me careerwise... do some research on your area of training and try to answer accordingly.. I personally want to live in Quebec City but because of job, thats not possible

STILL HOPE

You have been of great help so far. What do you suggest of the following?

If I apply as the principal applicant and my wife as the co-applicant, I get total 53 points, with adaptability at least 4 points, cant I apply?

If my wife applies as the principal applicant and I as the co-applicant, as it stands now, I get total 54 points? If she shows intention to learn French as a principal applicant, and clears A1, she will get additional 2+2. Then we stand at 58.

Hi friends

I have done my post graduate diploma in Business Admin from Mumbai, India. This was a two year full time course.

In India this course is treated as an equivalent to Masters in Business Administration / MAsters in Management Stduies.

If I can get a letter from my institute on its letter head duly signed with a seal stating that the course pursued by me is certified as equivalent to MBA / masters degree and is affiliated to the University and Association of technical education, then can I claim 16 points for my education parameter?

Guys, is it ok to file 2 applications at the same time? I was thinking that while I'm waiting for the decision to come out for my Quebec application, I might as well file for Federal while it is still open so I will not be wasting precious time. Thanks!
