Hello Waiting Winni,
TB culture takes 6-8 weeks and if you have not received any call from the local medical center where you are undergoing tests, then it means that so far there is no growth.
I had my medicals yesterday and as advised by you I have submitted the following in digital format
1.Old X-Ray image and report
2.Old CT-Scan (movie format) and report stating No active TB
3.Recent medical Certificate based on these reports stating No recurrence of Infection
4.Old Medical certificate from the doctor who treated me in 2000/2001 along with the treatment regimen and the medicines used

Plus, by God's grace, my wife and daughter who have been living with me for the past so many years have never been infected - which should also prove that my infection is completely inactive. This was considered during my medicals for UK in 2007.

I am hoping that they do not ask me to undergo the additional tests which will take 2-3 months more.

Yesterday, at the medical center the concerned person has said that it would be good if I had undergone a Sputum test also along with my X-Ray and CT Scan in the last 3-6 months and submitted that report also.
Paradoxically, earlier in the year, when I was undergoing these check ups on my own, I wanted to undergo the Sputum culture but the Physician looking into my case dissuaded me and said "There are no symptoms and you are perfectly fine and hence no need for AFB"

So in future those who had TB and cured without any recurrence should take X-rays, CT-Scan and Sputum test reports which are 3-6 months old to reduce the chances of repeat X-ray and Sputum culture.

Hi kimmy... in my case that same day when i had my medical exam, the panel physician informed me that there was an abnormalities found in my xray and she gave me the specialist referral form to undego sputum test which was scheduled a week after my med.exam.... then after almost two weeks i received an email from cic and that was the medical furtherance letter.they gave me 90 days to comply. Hospital called me because they also received the same email.since i already did the sputum test before that furtherance letter came they told me what i just need to comply.the repeat xray which is 3 months after my initial medical exam. Hope it would help.

Hello Leo

Thats really good that you have submitted your old chest x ray and ct scan report in digital form

I have live case here in India who submitted their 6-9 months Chest X Ray or CT Scan report will not ask for sputum test AFB reports and Repeat Chest x ray since they can confirm from old chest x ray with current one that no abnormalities found. You will not ask for medical furtherance and will get Medical has been received line in your case after 7-10 days from the day you have done with your medical. Best of luck...

Which is your visa office.,.. If your visa office is Manila than you will get PPR within 15-30 days from the day you underwent for the medical examination.

Best of Luck

I have to go for repeat chest x ray on August 29, 2015

I also need to know that how long they will take after medical furtherance done for PPR

Hi waiting winni! I would like to ask kung anong reason bakit ka mguundergo ng furtherance tests? Thanks. My case is that im negative for tb but positive for mycobacteria other than tuberculosis (MOTT). Thanks

Ahhmm hello again. I was reading the thread and got confused on some things. If you have to undergo sputum exam, after 2mos-result then another xray. Then if your result is negative, do you still have to undergo a 6mos treatment despite of negative result??? Thats depressing!. Ive been having my xray done yearly and its always normal, but how come my med exam has findings on it, is being a nurse a major impact. So after 2mos of waiting for sputum, another 6mos of treatment regardeless of sputum result? Kindly enlighten me. I feel so depressed.

^^ That depends if they see some changes between your first x-ray and your repeat x-ray after your sputum exam. If your sputum test is negative and the scarring in your x-ray has no changes, then I don't think you will be advised to go for treatment

Hi,
I had my medical exam last thursday and the hospital called me today and told me that theyve found abnormalities with my chest xray and they want me to have sputum test this week. I was quite desperate and at the same time surprised as i just had my chest xray in june and the result was ok. I was wondering why they got different result. I am really down and sad today as my plans are affected. Can you let me know what will happen next? Thank you in advance.

Btw will it still help if i bring my old xray, the one that was taken in june 2015? Now im thinking will they honor that if i brought it during my medical exam? Sorry i am really confused. Im not sure if they are after the money or what.

U should bring old xray and if u can take this in digital format than it would be great for u and it will save ur lot of time though or else they will not consider ur old xray since canada medical is based on eMedical and they need ur all old x rays in digital format so bring in digital format only

Thank you winni. Do you think they will still entertain my concern because i am already scheduled for sp
utum test tomorrow?

Did you get a medical furtherance letter from CIC? you will probably be undergoing sputum exam and have to wait another two months for the result.
you have the same case as I did - no symptoms, no history - but some abnormalities in the x-ray, there's probably no reason to worry. CIC is just paranoid about TB. There's nothing else we can do but follow the procedure, you'll get your visa eventually

Thanks so much. It was st luke's nurse who informed me that i need to have sputum exam. He informed me that i can bring my old xray and sputum exam that i had more than a year ago so they can try to check. He said that they may still ask me to have sputum but not to have repeat xray after 2 or 3 months. I m not sure if thats true and if thats possible. What do you think?

it's possible but they will probably still ask you to do a repeat x-ray to check if your scar is already stable. It shouldn't matter coz x-ray only takes a day.
