Hello Waiting Winni,
TB culture takes 6-8 weeks and if you have not received any call from the local medical center where you are undergoing tests, then it means that so far there is no growth.
I had my medicals yesterday and as advised by you I have submitted the following in digital format
1.Old X-Ray image and report
2.Old CT-Scan (movie format) and report stating No active TB
3.Recent medical Certificate based on these reports stating No recurrence of Infection
4.Old Medical certificate from the doctor who treated me in 2000/2001 along with the treatment regimen and the medicines used
Plus, by God's grace, my wife and daughter who have been living with me for the past so many years have never been infected - which should also prove that my infection is completely inactive. This was considered during my medicals for UK in 2007.
I am hoping that they do not ask me to undergo the additional tests which will take 2-3 months more.
Yesterday, at the medical center the concerned person has said that it would be good if I had undergone a Sputum test also along with my X-Ray and CT Scan in the last 3-6 months and submitted that report also.
Paradoxically, earlier in the year, when I was undergoing these check ups on my own, I wanted to undergo the Sputum culture but the Physician looking into my case dissuaded me and said "There are no symptoms and you are perfectly fine and hence no need for AFB"
So in future those who had TB and cured without any recurrence should take X-rays, CT-Scan and Sputum test reports which are 3-6 months old to reduce the chances of repeat X-ray and Sputum culture.
