Hi. AfterTB treatment, what is the last medical assessment on file? Would it be the last xray taken after treatment?

Please anyone knows?

Hi. Thank you all for all your support. I would like to ask... After tb treatment and being cleared.. how long is your medical result valid? Is the validity from the last assesment after tb treatment or the initial medical exam before th was detected.

Thank you.
Please can anyone help with this?

Hi All,

I live in Dubai but I did my medical from IOM Karachi in November 2017 because I was visiting Pakistan. I was told to do sputum test for 3 days and the result will come after 56 days. I completed my application meanwhile and my AOR is 12th January 2018. Last week I got a call from IOM Karachi saying that I need to give one more xray after 20th February. Now I have 2 questions:

1) Since they are asking for second xray then does that mean that the sputum test was negative?
2) Can I do the xray in Dubai since I have no plans of visiting Karachi anytime soon?

This medical was done for my second ITA. I had previous recived one more ITA in February 2017 for which I had done my medical in Dubai. Unfortunately that ITA got rejection because of incomplete PCC. However, there was no issue raised for medical by Dubai's panel physicians and CIC.

Does that mean that my medical of Dubai was fine? And yes I also wanted to say that I have been a smoker since 2004 so I have been told that the abnormal xray result might be because of smoking. It might not be active/inactive TB because I don't have any symptoms.

Any help will be highly appreciated guys!!

Good day everyone,

how long does the sputum culture result usually get released? is it exactly 8 weeks or can I already have it followed-up on its 6th week?

Hi Danish ,

I came across your post and found it similar to mine . I like in the UK and currently applying for Canada through PNP OINP ( received nomination ) I underwent for an upfront medical in IOM karachi ( im here for a month ) on 1st Feb and was told that there is an abnormality in X-ray by dr Sarah and dr Erum and I need to go through sputum and culture test with all the deadlines you already mentioned . I’ve completed my sputum test ( oh by the way I also requested for another X-ray to be evaluated as my private health assessment in the UK did not show at traces of spot or tB ) they replied that they have strict procedures to follow and thus that is the only process we need .

My question to you is , did sputum test came out negative ( you can also call and ask them ) also do we need to undergo treatment if the X-ray after 3 months are still showing that spot ( can be because of my smoking )

Your anwser would be highly appreciated. Or you could PM me

Yes they do not accept any external assessment. I also went to aga khan and saw a chest specialist just to make sure and he said everything is fine. now the current update is that I am going to Karachi on 23rd February for the second xray and consultation by an IOM chest specialist. they do not tell the results of the sputum test so I am not sure if it is positive or negative. But as per my research I think it is probably negative and there is no issue. also when I called IOM they said that this is the last part of the process and after that I am done. So I am assuming if it was positive there would have been further tests. I am not sure if we will require treatment after this second xray. it depends on the size of the spot as far as I have read and the sputum test result. I have reduce my smoking so lets see if that helps. would suggest you to do the same.

But if the sputums are negative, then I dnt think there is any logic left for white spots.. isnt it?

no spots can still be there. sputum test is done to check if there is any active TB or not
Spots are also indication of active/inactive TB.. for that suspection,. they conduct sputum test... now If sputum tests are negative, then why would they hold on?? I think its illogical

@danishriz Suppose we have negative sputum results.. They see white spots again on X-ray.. Now what?? Would they again conduct sputum or TB tests?
