My partner showed her passport and expired PR and told the border agent that we were in Europe for three months for a medical treatment. No further questions.

We were two adults and a small child. (Both the child and I have Canadian passports.) Not exactly the type that would raise suspicions.

Hey l received it eventually. Took me about 35 days in total (this was about 2 months ago). I heard the process is getting faster now and people receving it in under 20 days !

Hello everyone, about this PRTD subject, I just started my application online, directly on the PR platform (from France). It's still very fresh but based on some of your feedback, I'm already concerned and wondering about the current delays to go through a regular PRTD application ?
@Registereduser and @axolotl have you finally received your PRTD? How long did it take for you ?

My application is complete, and also displaying the "submitted" status (I didn't get any other information, email or whatever, just this status on the platform).
Thanks and have a great day !

Hey nice thanks a lot for the reply ! Okay that's more encouraging :D . Fingers crossed for me. And at one point @Registereduser did you get like an email informing you that your PTRD was granted, with some instructions to send your passport to some visa place ? Or it was only displayed on your profile on the PR platform ?
I'll update here the status of my PRTD application to give some feedback on the current delays.

Yeah l did on my email. They basically asked me to book a date at the visa office to send my passport for stamping. However nothing was updated on the PR portal. All communication was through email.

Do you meet the residency requirement?

No I don't meet the residency requirement, I had submitted the PR card renewal when I was in Canada under humanitarian grounds in Oct 2022. And they sent me a in-person (in Etobicoke, ON) interview date for June 2023, but I had already left Canada by then. So I used that interview date letter in my PR Travel Document application under humanitarian grounds and said that I have an interview date to attend in Canada.

This is why processing is taking longer. There's really nothing you can do but wait. You can certainly try sending a case specific inquiry however you probably won't get much of an answer back. Unfortunately it's hard to say how much longer you will be waiting. Generally speaking, it significantly weakens the H&C argument if you apply for the PR card and then leave Canada.

PRTD based on H&C reasons have no timeline and can take over a year at times. Do you have a US visa? Believe that IRCC only hold PR cards for pick-up for a certain period of time (6 months if I remember correctly). Being approved for a PR card renewal does not guarantee PRTD approval. Do you have H&C reason for not meeting ROand leaving Canada after applying for your PR card renewal? How much time have you spent in Canada since getting PR? was this your first PR. In the past 5 years? 10 years?

Hello everyone
I submitted a complete PRTD application ( residency obligations met) in January 2024. Still after 9 months IRCC just confirms that application is in process in Ankara visa offices. Is this delay normal?
What can I do? I am in very difficult situation right now.
I have contacted local MP, but without much luck, they only told her background check and information sharing assessment were done 3 months ago.
Thanks

It's not normal if you met the residency obligations via physical presence. Have you tried calling/writing IRCC / the visa office in Ankara? Do you have any idea why it would be taking longer (anything unusual about your situation)?

You can/should also attempt to order GCMS notes on your file.

If you can travel via USA (have visa), they may be most convenient (I assume you do not).

Thanks for replying
I saw someone else waiting for 10 months at Ankara office, residency met too.

I have written lots of emails and webforms to the visa office, but they have never responded,. Ircc canada says the application is in process and advises contacting the visa office which never answers.
Unfortunately us visa in not an option for me.
Nothing unusual about the application, I was 29 months in Canada, PR card renewed and in IRCC office in Vancouver, actually they issued a second one with original application , the first one was destroyed in June after six months notice.
What is GCMS note?

GCMS notes is a privacy act request for info from the internal system (gcms notes) on your file. Apply here: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/privacyTerms.do?requestflow=ircc

You can search for more info on how to apply etc.

-It is NOT normal (I think) for PR card renewed to be delivered to office instead of to your home address in Canada - that is, if you were in compliance with no issues. (If I understood what you wrote about that)
-You say you were 29 months in Canada - can you be more specific with dates (up to today and to day of application for the PRTD).
-Would there be particular security issues in your file (given the countries Ankara office covers) and where you've travelled since away?

I will try to get GCMS.
Since August 2020, I was 29 months and 11 days in Canada in 2 parts ( 15 months , and another 14 months) up to day and to the date I submitted my application. I attached complete notices of assessments and bank statements for the time I was in Canada.

After I applied to renew my pr card, I waited for 4 more months to get it to travel, but it wasn’t ready and IRCC advised me to travel and get a PRTD to return. The PR application took almost 8 months and they say I was randomly selected to go and pick it in person in the notice. When the notice came , I had already travelled to Iran.

There are no security issues and I haven’t travelled since I came to Iran,

I have seen 3 other people with the same issue, waiting for PRTD more than six months in Iran. I also saw someone got it after 5 months in July. All residency obligations met.
in July the MP told me that the Eligibility Review had not been started then,
