I haven't been online in awhile, and I've tried searching for something more recent than 2010. But have income requirement changed since last year?? Meaning if I am sponsoring my spouse (& currently living in Egypt) and I don't have an income, nor have I done income taxes in a few years can I still sponsor him??? OR do I have to do my taxes to get a recent NOA before I sponsor him??? Thanks a bunch and sorry if there is a more recent post, I just couldn't find anything :)

There is no minimum income requirement but you must be able to show that you will support yourselves in Canada without welfare. You can show this through a combination of savings, investments, spouse's income, family assistance etc.

In place of the NOA, include a letter explaining you don't have one because you have been living outside of Canada.

Exactly what Canuck said. There is no income requirement. Take myself for example. I have been living in Mexico for the last 3 years and I had to put a big fat $0.00 for my income. I got approved no problem. As long as you can demonstrate that you will not need Government assistance (welfare) when you live in Canada it will all be fine. In my application I showed my savings account, I provided letters from family stating that they will help us get established and they will help us until we can get back on our feet.
