Unfortunately we have wait towards the end of 2020 to the beginning of 2021 for our applications to move.
I live in the US and am a Canadian Indian Status Card holder. I mailed my application for certification of citizenship in February of 2018... I was notified it was received in April of 2018. In October of 2018 I received a letter stating that my application would not be completed on time but was in final review. This letter curiously arrived in an envelope meter postage dated for August of 2018. (2+ months prior?) I contacted them online in April of this year (2019) and was told they will let me know when they let know? It has been 15 months now. What could cause this delay???

Hi there, has anyone experienced a delay in their Canadian citizenship certificate application? Cic received my application on July 2019 and then sent me an email stating they sent me a correspondence on sept 18, 2019 which was that they received my application. It’s already feb 19, 2020 and 5 months after, i haven’t received any email or even my profile wasn’t updated yet. Does this take forever? I passed all the required documents that’s why I can’t understand what’s with the delay. My application is just to change my last name as I got married in May 2019.
We are just a bit behind you. Jul 30 received application. Oct 8 2019 acknowledged received. Still in application received status. Such a long delay to get proof of citizenship. Hopefully this will be processed soon.
I am experiencing a similar delay as well and also for reflecting a name change...My application was received end of June... AOR end of August... and then nothing after that! When I inquire I get a reply that nothing is missing and essentially to just wait

- Application returned for poor picture specification in June 2017.
- (APPLICATION RESUBMITTED) We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on July 25, 2018.
- We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on August 15, 2018.
- We sent your citizenship certificate on December 12, 2019 to: XXXXXXXXXX. If your certificate was sent to a Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate, you will be contacted when it arrives. Mailing times will vary by region and could take up to four months. If we have sent your certificate to the wrong address, please contact us.
- Passport application request to be applied for 27th January 2020 at Canada high comission lagos Nigeria.
- Passport recieved on 20th February 2020 at Canada high Commison Lagos.

That means I'm a month away from getting AOR. First time applying for proof of citizenship for my daughter.
Yes, did apply from canada or outside ?
I think also depends on location too(like province wise)
British citizen applying for proof of citizenship through descent via New Zealand embassy.

I just saw that my application was finally processed and mailed March 11....That is 8.5 months in total! They seem to be processing June/July 2019 applications these days... hopefully everyone who has been waiting would hear back soon.
