Promoted from Software Engineer to Account Manager,Can i still apply under 2174

This is my work history :

1 Jan 2007 - 31 July 2011 Software Engineer
1 August 2011 - 31 September 2013 Senior Software Engineer
1 October 2013 - Current (08 Sep 2014) Account Manager

Can i still apply under 2174 \ 2173 categories? Please advice?

It's too late for 2174 (CIC has already received more than enough applications to fill the cap). 2173 is probably extremely close to capping. Are you ready to send your application this week or do you still have to complete IELTS and/or ECA?

As syclla pointed out, it might be too late for 2174. Suggestion would be to try for 2173 if docs are ready.

As for your question, yes you can apply. Eligibility criteria is - you need to have atleast 1 year of experience in the nominated NOC in the last 10 years. It need not be current occupation for you. In fact you will also get points for your Accounts manager job.

Can we apply for 2173 if all the previous work experience is 2174 ? Is it that once we get PER we will only get employment opportunities in 2173 if we apply for 2173 now ?

Right. Account Manager is same responsibility as Engagement Manager so I am into client handling now.
About 2174\2173, I see that there are roughly 450\215 applications only. Why do you say that quota has been reached?
And docs are not ready. I am appearing for IELTS on 1st november 2014

Because those numbers only reflect the applications CIC has opened and accepted - and right now they are still working on applications received at the end of May.

There's nowhere official to check the numbers of applications received (CIC doesn't count applications until they are opened and accepted). You just have to do the rough math and guess. It took approximately 3 weeks to hit 450 applications for 2174. So it's a pretty safe bet the cap will be reached once CIC has processed applications received in May and June - maybe the very beginning of July. For 2173, since it took around 3 weeks to reach around 200 applications, you can estimate that it will take around 15 weeks to hit the cap. 15 weeks takes you to around the middle of August. I would add a few extra weeks to that and guess it may still be possible to make the cap for 2173 if you submit this week. But I could very well be wrong...

The spreadsheet you found isn't managed by CIC - it was created by someone on this forum. This spreadsheet is a list of everyone who applied for FSW who is a member of this forum. It certainly doesn't represent all applications submitted - not by a long-shot (obviously there are tons of people out there who have applied for FSW and who aren't members of this forum). Again, the spreadsheet only reflects the applications of those who are members of this forum and who have applied under FSW.

Just to add to that, some seniors take the count to be approximately in the range of 30-40% of total global applications. That way you can pull up the numbers by now, adjusting for the fact that the stream of applications received in may might be more than what is possibly expected down the calendar(initial rush, you know).

i just don't understand that why in this so "technology of communication age" 2014, the CIC could not update the application capping promptly .... we can even check the flight status anytime and anywhere as long as it got internet access ...how come got some long period data lag reflected from wed site and what they really received in their office...
