Hi.. Did anyone tried visitors visa for your spouse from Sri Lanka? We are wondering if this would work or against the process. I personally don't know anyone who did this process so want more information before applying for visitors visa.

You are welcome AIIA :). I have no idea why we have to put 2 for number of applicants instead of 1 when we are ONLY sponsoring 1 person LOL. Initially, I put 1 as well and it didn't work then I tried 2 and it worked... weird but worked. As for the delay I don't know what to say/think anymore :(... from what I've seen here it seems if the sponsored spouse is a male and if they lived in another country it's taking forever to get the visa. My husband lived in UK and India and I think that's what's causing the delay. Now, I am starting to worry... I know about 2-3 people here who lived in 2 other countries and have not received the visa yet.

If nothing happens by end of this year, I am thinking of staying with my husband until he gets the visa but if we quit our job, immigration can use that against us(they will basically say u r unemployed at the moment so u won't be able to financially support your spouse) and reject the visa. Living in SriLanka will be hard cuz even if I get a job most likely it wont be enough to pay my monthly bills in Canada...oh man.. this is too stressful. I don't know what to do, I am actually so lost with my life at the moment
Hey lav I think vo is so biased that they give visa to female rather than male cuz they started doing hus bck check in july and he hasnt been out of counrty and why r they delaying his process plus a lot of ppl in this forum also have spouses that havent travelled anywhr.. Well on the whole I am thinking this yr visa office has been the slowest could be our bad luck what else to say. And lav ur rite about living in another country the vo will take that as adv. And deny visa saying we dont have a job.. All we can do is wait patiently and see the result

hi rainbow21 did u see today IRCC releases news again conditional PR 2 year.. what they doing over16 month?
Yes kankan I read that today as well .... I really dont mind abt the conditional pr cuz it prevents a lot of fraud against marriage which is y I believe is a good idea.. But then I really dont undestand that they r delaying to give pr and increasing the months it takes to process our application this needs to stop and they r being biased also based on certain countries..

u know something Rainbow I think if someone really want to fraud the immigration they can easily do it. Its not hard for someone to pretend to be in a good marriage for 2 yrs and walk away from everything once they get their PR. Funny thing is its real couple like us who are paying the prices while the wrong ppl enter canada so easily.

Hey Lav,

You have a good point, leaving a job wouldn't be a good idea that would just give them more reason to delay the process. And yea going to another Country might end up complicating things. :S

And I totally understand how you feel, I feel so lost and helpless. There really is no solution to this, I can't keep living here without my hubby and moving to Sri Lanka is also not feasible. There is literally nothing to do but wait. My husband's 2nd medical is going to expire in about two weeks so I am loosing all hope. And yea we definitely are the ones paying the price for all those who thought it was ok be in a pretend marriage just to get PR

You guys bring a good point about marriage frauds and conditional PR. But, in reality were there really any cases of marriage fraud involving Sri Lankan spouses? I could understand if its from other countries, but I highly doubt spouses from SL would do such petty things for PR as they value marriage so highly. Do you guys personally know of such cases involving sri lankan spouses? If not, then that has nothing to do with our delays?

Hey all,

I agree with what most of you are saying -- if you have lived in another country in the past, it does delay your visa processing. I was in another country for several years before permanently moving to Sri Lanka and I think this is what is causing the delay. I submitted my file in November 2015 so almost a year now.

What's unfortunate is that these guys keep increasing the processing time, so we can't expect them to reply either. Hopefully the processing times will go down and we will start seeing some action soon!

Oh and I also received an email from CIC asking for my medical -- funny how all of us are getting requests for it around the same time! Somebody told me that the VO often does mass approvals, like approves a bunch of applications at the same time. So this could be great news -- lets keep our spirits up and hope for the best!! :)

Hey guys
I was wondering if any of you have similar update recently on your linked account. Today when I logged into.... this is what it said.
Scheduling an interview We need to schedule an interview with the applicant

Also it said "your action needed". But it doesn't clarify anywhere what action they us to do. So confused. Can't contact my husband right now. Because he is travelling to colombo to do remedical. So I'm trying to get some info in mean time. Any input?

Hey did you get any messages under the link application proally my guess is that they gave you an interview date and you might have to accept.. Or tell your husb. To check his junk folder the mail might be there.. Or which ever email you gave when you created the link account..
