YES! anywhere out of the country even for an hour has to be mentioned.

Quite interesting. I wonder how true this is. Probably open for certain asian countries, not all.
I tried to validate this elsewhere, but no mention of this on any of the trusted websites, i.e. CIC

Yes, visa will expire at the end of medical which is sometimes in March 2017.
