Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Guys,

My wife got her visa on Aug 26th.

Here is my timeline

Applied on May 1st, 2013 in Canada
Application fwrd to Colombo on May 24th, 2013
Status changed to "In Process" from Application Received, On Aug 5th, 2013 with an update "We started processing your application on July 26th, 2013.

On Aug 16th E-CAS status changed to Decision Made. So, I emailed the visa office on Aug 16th, No Reply from them. Emailed again on Aug 21st got a reply saying 'Refer to the email we sent you on Aug 16" but I have not received any email from VO on Aug 16. So I replied to them saying haven't got any email So they sent another email with the instruction to how and where to pick the visa.

We have not got a call or letter from visa office just only email.

And my wife went to the VFS office in Colombo and collected her visa it took 3 days at VFS.

just a note, if you are planning to send email to VO, you give them the rights to communicate with you via email so you have to check your email regularly. It appears they don't call once they email you the instruction (not sure, it is only for me they didn't call but be careful checking your emails and E-CAS update...)

E-CAS update was pretty accurate for me....

Hello everyone. UPDATE: My husband finally got his visa exactly after one year since sending the application. Thank you everyone who helped out through the process.

Good luck to all current and future applicants. Two pieces of advice I can give to all you from my experience are:
1.) Prepare your application well...that is the key
2.) Have A LOT of patience...lol. I say this because I know its going to be difficult not knowing when your spouse will arrive, but it will take time! Have faith and everything will work out perfect.

My file got transferred on the 20th of July and no my status still says ''application received''. But the ''Medicals results have been Received'' has been there for while now. i suppose we will have good news in October ;D

A little info about my application that may help you and others:

I am the applicant (female) and sponsored my husband from Sri Lanka. I only had a civil wedding.

Application sent: October 11, 2012

Sponsor approved: October 31, 2012

I emailed the office several times and got the same response back, which was that the file is in que to be reviewed by an officer. We did not receive any requests from the visa office until August 06, 2013, which was a request for my husband to re-do his medicals. We then never heard anything from the office. My status online was not updated, it showed that application has been received and medicals have been received (this was the status since I got approved as a sponsor.) We then got an email from the office on Oct 14, 2013 requesting to submit the passport. The status online changed to decision made on the same day. We received the processed visa on October 16, 2013.

Hi every one. Please help me out here....

I applied my pr application on June 28th 2013. I am the sponsor and I got approve from here in July 26.. And September 27th 2013 they requested our original marriage. They asked me to pay permanent residence fee which is landing fee. They request my employment letter from Canada and past three months pay slips. And on the October 15 my husband went to the embassy Sri Lanka and submitted it. But my E cas still says application recived and medical has been recived.Is it normal? Does that mean that they are working on my application. Does that means that my fils is in process? I am so worried. . Please reply me... Guys

OMG. Thanks for ur quick reply.... I really appreciate that.. My E cas says the same thing. Application recived and medicals has been recived.... They asked some additional documents on September 27th And we submit that already to the Sri Lankan embassy on 15th this month October.... Now it is the waiting time..... Thank you again for ur reply... I was checking this thread every day.. It makes me so happy and gives me lots of hope when I see when other friend get their ppr..... ;D

I have almost the same timeline as you. Hopefully our application will go to "in-process" soon. I know someone whose application got transferred to Colombo on May 24th and the status changed to "in-process" on August 5th (about 2 months). So hopefully it will be the same for us also.
