Thanks! Here is what I did. I hope it will help you guys.
1. I included everything that is required on document checklist. I didn't miss a single thing.
2. Change your wife last name to your name. It is very important in Sri Lankan culture. Change it on NIC, open a new bank account with new name, get police clearance with new name.
3. Do not send your application if you are missing a single document. This is very important.
4. Fill out the form completely. Check all the signature pages.
5. Make sure the story is simple and sweet. Do not make too complicated. When and how your marriage was proposed or whatever the love marriage story.
6. Make sure you include all wedding pictures. Take pictures where they can see people who came to the wedding. Try to includes as many people as possible. They need to see if its genuine or not.
8. Honey moon pictures are important as well. Go somewhere nice but take lot of pictures. Make sure you both interact well.
9. Get a postpaid cell phone in Sri Lanka. Get the bills for every month with incoming and outgoing calls. Same thing here in Canada. Communication is important.
10. Include all the wedding expenses with receipt. Get receipts for everything.
11. If you go out of country for honeymoon. Keep boarding pass and hotel receipts
12. If anyone attended your wedding from abroad. Take their passport photo copy with picture and arrival stamp in Sri Lanka.
13. Include everything with application. Put them in order. Use sticky to explain when it's necessary. It will make the officer's work easier.
I sent my application to Mississauga on Oct 1, 2012
My application was approved on Oct 25. Received a letter with File number.
Got the call for PPR on Dec 16.
That's it. That's all I did. It took me 2 months get everything organized. My police report took 45 days.
